Excellent museum to spend a few hours learning about and seeing some exhibits about the Naval Air heritage of Canada's Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Forces. The Fairey "Swordfish" naval torpedo, Banshee Fighter are just two of the many wonderful and rare Naval aircraft on display. Also some hands - on exhibits that will thrill kids of all ages ...

You will not be spending all day at this museum but it's still a great little museum for an afternoon visit.

We stopped here on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Just a short, easy drive from Halifax, the Shearwater Aviation Museum is a small museum with excellent examples of aircraft. Jim Elliott took a lot of time talking with my son about the airplanes and helicopters in great detail and shared many personal stories. This was one of the highlights of the... More

Shearwater catered to an anniversary party, it was very tasteful and classy. With a tour of the museum. Have been there on several occasions and it has always been a pleasant visit.

The Shearwater Aviation museum is worth a visit, great for adults and kids especially if you are into old aircrafts and aviation history. Great photos and great restoration work.

If there is an aircraft museum nearby we have to visit it! Three of the four of us worked in the military aircraft industry (especially helicopters) so it is never just a quick visit and we spent several hours wandering around the exhibitions. The paintings of the aircraft on the second floor were so vivid and we saw several with... More

I found the museum very interesting as an ex Navy man posted on ships such as HMCS Assiniboine (DDH 234) which is covered extensively in the museum. It was the primary ship involved in the development and trials of the helicopter haul down system known as the "Bear Trap". The museum was very well laid out with a lot of... More

Our guide Jerry was great. We missed the beginning of his tour so we are not sure exactly his career in the Canadian Air Force but it seemed like it was a long one. He walked us through stories of the different planes on exhibit along with the people that flew them. He also talked about the process to bring... More
