the area around this lake is beautiful. We headed south from Louisbourg and then crossed over the lake using the bridge at the Narrows (near Iona) and then again on a ferry heading over to Glenvale (or was that Glendale). The day was a bit over cast but the views of the lake and the towns/villages around there were still... More

Marble Mountain is a small community on the North Shore of the Bras d'Or about 30 minutes from Port Hawkesbury. It has a lovely beach with crystal clear water which ranges in colour from Caribbean turquoise to an almost navy blue. There is a look-off with terrific views across the lake and if you are a hiker, you can climb... More

Bras d'Or Lake is not a single destination. There is little Bras d'Or and Big Bras d'Or lake.Best to check it out on a map, and decide where you want to explore. It is an in land sea, that stretches for miles. The senic Bras d'Or Lake drive is along Canada's trans Canadian 105. People going to Cape Breton's Cabot... More

This is a great drive all around the Lake. Our 2 grandsons went fishing for Mackerel with a local fisherman ( known to my brother-in-law ) , who explained the tides coming in & out of the lake thus making it mostly salt water. We crossed afterwards at the Englishtown ferry where we had wonderful fish & chips at 'Captain... More

Took a sail boat out for almost two hours. Our guide sailed past Alexander Graham Bells House which is the only way to see it. No tours for his family still lives there.

We saw more beauty just driving around while staying here than when we went out specifically looking for scenic drives.

We stayed at the Barra Strait Inn right on the lake in Iona, very comfortable and great sunrise in the morning of the lake.

I have driven the Cabot Trail several times in the past but this is the first time I have driven along the southern shore of the lake from Port Hawkesbury right up to Sydney. The views on this side are far more frequent and far more impressive. The road is a secondary road so you take your time and enjoy... More

Georgious location. Beautiful landscapes. Beautiful drives, did almost 80% of the lake. Construction on the east side of the lake on NS 4 caused delays. About 30 minutes for 10km of travel but it's Canada in the summer, cannot do road work in the winter eh. Beautiful spot.

Worth driving through the area to see the scenery. Peaceful beauty and great sunset/rises. We were wowed.
