With the largest and longest operating winery in the Atlantic region, the Jost family pioneered the industry, supporting the majority of today's independent vineyard operations. Their estate bottled whites, reds and specialties are lovingly crafted in the cellars and are available for sampling, sale and shipping from the winery store. Hike, bike and picnic with spectacular vistas of the vineyards and beautiful beaches of the Northumberland coastline. The area enjoys a mezzo climate with more days of sun than anywhere else in Atlantic Canada. Enjoy local cheeses with a perfectly paired wine on the licensed terrace and take a vineyard tour. If you are not able to make the drive, Jost wines can be discovered at most local restaurants, liquor stores and your favorite neighbors back deck. « less

Jost is one of my favorite wines and being from Ontario, I don't get to have it often. 4skins is by far the best one they offer (and humorously named). I'm not a fan of the new layout and much preferred the older, rustic look to the newer, modern look. Still, the renovations are very appealing and the building looks... More

We were lucky enough to be there the day they were launching their 2014 season. A day of wine tasting, great place, friendly atmosphere, and very good wines ! Was a gray and misty day outside but inside everybody had a smile ! They offer tours of the vineyard too. Did not have the chance to do it. Had to... More

You're right! We do have great wine. We always offer complimentary sampling of wine year round to help people find the right wine for them. I hope the next time you come the sun is shining, it is always very relaxing to have a glass of wine while you are on the patio looking out at the vineyard. Cheers! More

After driving several hours including through several construction zones, it looked to be a very charming vineyard. Unfortunately, there was an ongoing private function, however, the staff went out of there way to talk to us and serve a glass of wine on their deck. If we come to the area again, we will definitely stop in.

I am glad you still enjoyed your visit, we don't have private functions often but when we do the owners normally feel "the more the merrier". I hope when you come again you have a chance to have a tour of the winery. Cheers! More

We visit at least twice a year. In august when we were there last, new owners had taken over and the site was under construction. Never the less we came away with two cases of wine, which was enjoyed at our daughters wedding! Staff are excellent in assisting you to chose wines you have not tried before. Samples are provided... Thank you for your very nice review. I look forward to you returning to the winery to see all the changes that have been made. We now have a Fireside Lounge so if you are in the area this winter make sure you come in to warm up and to enjoy a glass of wine. Cheers! More

The staff here is very informative. There are vineyard tours available and you can taste the wines before you buy. We made a point of taking a different route to our destination so we could stop in to check it out. Had a wonderful lunch with a glass of wine. The staff and visitors were so friendly and willing to... More

My husband had tried the Jost wine throughout out visit in Nova Scotia and wanted to see the winery. We found them just a few minutes off the main road on the Northumberland shore side of Nova Scotia. They of course have free samples and are in the process of building a wonderful restaurant with huge windows for a view... More

Thank you for your review. Jost is the oldest winery in Nova Scotia, but has always been best known for the quantity of wine it produces, not the quality. The recent explosion in new boutique wineries has pushed Jost to the sidelines, as least as far as discerning wine lovers go. But Jost has new owners as of a year ago, and change is happening,... After 30 years Jost Vineyards does have new owners and a bright young new winemaker full of energy. We are excited about the changes and are looking forward to the release of a new wine at Port of Wines. I hope you do have a chance to experience the great things coming. More

We had heard there were two wineries in the area so we decided to seek them out. The first winery was a definite disappointment. We travelled onto Jost winery. Oh, what a find! The staff were very friendly and the wines were many. I sampled their L'acadie Pinot Grigo which instantly became my favourite. We ordered a cheese plate and,... More

The Jost vineyard is a few miles off the highway and is an interesting stop. The shop is under renovation (in the middle of tourist season, oddly) so there isn't much to see other than the vineyard itself and a very small selection of wine. I wouldn't go out of my way for a vist until the work is done.... More

On our trip to Fox Harb'r we stopped and sampled some wine. The chardonnay and the muscat were pleasant and we bought a few bottles. Red's for my palate were a little thin. We bought a bottle of port, not bad for sipping at night. Very nice surroundings. Building under renovations but going to look great. Small area outside to... More
