We recently went on a 14 day trip down the Nahanni River with Nahanni Wilderness Adventures. The group of 6 people and 2 guides was in canoes and a raft. These trips are expensive so chose the tour company wisely. Nahanni Wilderness Adventures is a family run company which employs family members as trip leaders despite the fact that they... More

The 14 day canoe trip down the Nahanni was booked through Blackfeather, an wilderness trip outfitter based in Ontario that regularly runs trips down Canada's most exciting rivers as well as elsewhere. There were five of us on the trip and three guides. I had not met any of them before but we soon became close friends. It took us... More

Just back from a 7 day rafting trip down the lower Nahanni River from Virginia Falls to Nahanni Butte. It was nothing short of awesome. Nahanni River Adventures guides were just tons of fun while being very safe and professional. The meals they cooked were out of this world. It was a small group, just 5 guests with 3 guides... More

We chartered an airplane from Fort Simpson with another couple and had a 3 1/2 hour flight over Nahanni NP. . about the only way you can see it! Totally wild country (I just kept thinking about the grizzly bears that must have been below us!). .spring the the flight and a nice day. . you will not regret it!

We took the Simpson Air Fly-in trip for our family and it was one of our favorites on our two month vacation. We actually planned our trip around this flight to make sure we worked it into our driving schedule. This was truly the experience of a lifetime and the drive to get there was completely worth it! I have... More

It wasn't really in our plan when we visited Fort Simpson, but after talking to some airlines that provide tours we got a discount with Simpson Air (there were only 2 of us and it was the end of the season). This tour lands us at Virginia Falls, does a flyby of the Nahanni and Ram Plateaus and then lands... More

A new experience to see a National Park by plane. The charter flight was very small and old, 4 passenger and 1 pilot. The view is gorgeous. This national park only open for few months in summer.

Nahanni Falls - a natural attraction far beyond any common imagination. The flight from Yellowknife is impressive too, especially during the time of dangerous fall winds. It's a travel adventure worth to spend some time and money.

If you love the outdoors, you have to make a trip to Nahanni National Park NWT your priority. It's the size of Switzerland- 30,000 square km and fewer than a thousand people a year visit- that's like Algonquin on a Saturday by noon! You have many options depending on your time limits. Germans, Finns and other Europeans frequently camp/river raft... More

This is one of the best, most amazing Canadian parks with stunning topography, geology, water falls, canyons, etc. The river is relatively easy to canoe because it is always moving quite quickly. Went in early August and almost no bugs to worry about. Lots of day light up to 11pm. Nice side hikes and side creeks. To be frank, the... More
