My husband wanted to come here and I didn't particularly want to go initially. But L'Anse Aux Meadows, and the L'Anse Aux Meadows National Historic Site were amazing and really surprised me. It was like we were at the edge of the earth, since we were right at the end of the island. The scenery is spectactular, and the tours,...

If you want the true experience into the Viking past of North American - a good cold foggy day talking to the interpreters at Gros Morne could do it for you - authentic, historic, slightly creepy - my teenagers loved it and may have learned something....
There is a completely rebuilt village, so don't worry that you are going to...

Great visit with guides who explained all in great detail. Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the visit.

Parks Canada does a great job. Their interpreters tend to be locals, people who know the history in a personal way. Our guide to L'Anse aux Meadows had grown up in the region; his mother had provided lunch to the archeologists decades ago. The park is well-interpreted and in a beautiful spot. The reconstructions of the Norse village are excellent....

Then, we went to the actual sie and saw where halls and smaller builders were where the Vikings lived. Then, we meet Viking...

L'Anse aux Meadows is an amazing historical site with everything going for it - huge historical significance in that it proves that Canada was 'discovered' more than 1,000 years ago by Europeans. The location of this site is also remarkable in its beauty and well worth the drive up the west coast of Newfoundland. The staff are terrific and will...

After riding my motorcycle through way too much cold rain up the west coast on the Viking Trail, I arrived here to see clouds parting. The site is set on a treeless coastline with ice bergs close by. The temperature climbed to 60F and I was delighted to park and catch the next guided tour with an older gentleman who...

We thoroughly enjoyed this National Historic Site. It's very well done. The displays are well laid out and easy to follow. The reproduction of the sod house really give you the feel of how the Vikings lived. Use your Parks Canada Discovery Pass for admission!
