Run down dam

The dam is run down and the road under construction. However the drive to Mactaquaq park is still breathtakingly beautiful

Pretty Cool If You've Never Seen A Dam Up Close Before! If you are looking for a huge attraction than this is not it; however, if you'd like to take a nice drive about ten minutes out of Fredericton's south side city centre and feel as though you are out in the country then the drive is worth it. As... More

It's a powerful dam what else can I say, lots of water goes through it, did get some cool pictures of it though, worth seeing, there's not many around, just hope that it's in full power when you do to see it's full effect

However, the head pond is attractive with several parks and picnic areas nearby. Centennial Park is free and if you really are attracted to hydro electric dams, you can get a pretty good view of it from there. Unlike many area attractions, there is actually a large parking area just to the south of the dam that should be suitable... More

I have been in this area for 10 years and the Mactaquac Dam area is my favourite spot so far. It is peaceful and beautiful with two marinas and beaches to swim in. I have always seen deer and other wild animals nearby. For the fisherman this area is home for small mouth bass and the fight is usually exceptional.... More

An authentic non event - your time would be better spent watching grass grow. One of the ugliest dams around.

This dam has been around for many years and is an iconic symbol in Mactaquac. It has a great view from the top of the Saint John river below.

This is just a dam but the surrounding scenery is breathtaking. If you drive in any direction from the dam you will be water views.

Wear closed toe shoes! This isn't well communicated, and we went prior to going to the beach (ie with flip-flops and sandals!) It's a free tour that takes about an hour. Interesting, but probably not a great idea for kids. We had a nice tour, with a friendly tour guide! I would recommend to anyone looking for a quick "tourist"... More
