We loved Grand Manan Island but we were extremely disappointed with our accommodations. I contacted Kaye, of Hole-in-the-Wall campground in December or January and made arrangements to rent her annex building on Grand Manan Island. In February, she contacted me telling me that a group who regularly rents the main house at the time we would be visiting contacted her... More

My husband and I along with my sister and sister-in-law vacationed on Grand-Manan Island 2 years ago and absolutely LOVED IT. We camped at Hole-in the Wall Campground on the Cliff Edge site. Spectacular views and quietness. If you want to get a away from it all and truly relax, we strongly suggest you visit Grand Manan.

Wow! What a place. There is so much to do on this little island. I wish I could have stayed longer. We biked the length of the island, took a free ferry to another (smaller) island, went to the soft sandy beach, visited lighthouses, hiked, camped, visited amazing local coffee shops, and ate scallops that were caught the day before... If you are truly looking for a place to recharge, this is it. So many beaches (for walking) Not a great place for swimming as the Bay of Fundy waters are on the cold side. But great for beach combing. We went whale watching and it was spectacular. Great little restaurants and the people are so friendly. Absolutely wonderful island.

We camped on the island for a week. Weather ranged from 16 to 26 degrees celsius, and there was always a lovely breeze. We enjoyed walking on the various beaches and exploring the lighthouses around the island. Sunsets were fabulous and we also saw a whale and porpoises from the lookout. The population is small, and we kept bumping into... More

This was my first visit to Grand Manan and I went there for the day with a friend who is from Grand Manan. To get there, you take the boat on the NB side ( $ 60 return ) and a reservation is recommended - the crossing takes 1 ½ hour for the 10 mile océan trip. The Island is... More

The adventures that awaited us in Grand Manan began with our trip there, an hour and a half ferry ride, which is completely part of the charm. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. There are so many wonderful places to stop and take photos, walk along the beaches, sit in the cafes, tea room, quaint restaurants, museums, or shop for... More

There are other similar fishing village destinations in New England and the Canadian Maritime Provinces, but Grand Manon stands out for its whale watching and puffins while having all the ambiance of the classic fishing villages ... one thing to remember is that your reservation on the ferry out of Blacks Harbour will be cancelled :45 minutes prior to sailing... My husband and I live in southern Maine. We have been spending special dates (anniversaries and birthdays) as well as vacationing year round (even November and January) on Grand Manan for 9+ years. We are now exploring and enjoying White Head Island, a 30-40 minute free ferry ride from Ingalls Head. We just stayed at the newly established Russell's Guest... More

I often wondered why people would go back to the same place year after year when there is a great big world with endless places to see...until i went to Grand Manan. If you are into quiet and nature, this is the place you can go to get some rest and relaxation. Hiking trails ranging from an hour long to... More
