if you are looking for an authentic, quaint get away that also has the benefit of a friendly, helpful and kind community, Grand Manan is the place. Lovely shop keepers, great local eateries and scenic places to explore. This was my second year visiting and I hope to return for many more. I am not letting a bad cottage rental... More

My husband and I are eagerly awaiting our annual visit to Grand Manan which is coming up soon. We have made the trip almost every year for over 20 years now and never tire of this beautiful place. The first years we only stayed for one week but for the last few years we have been able to stay for... More

We sailed to Grand Manan and stayed for a weekend in late June. The island is beautiful, not crowded (at least at this time), and all the residents were exceptionally helpful and friendly. There is a hiking trail around the Island perimeter which follows the tops of the high bluffs in most places with some nice campsites on the bluffs,... More

We had just invested a glorious sunny day on deer Isle and decided to see what Grand Manan had to offer. Although there are the same fishing coves and rock formations, the major difference is the Swallowtail Lighthouse on the point. Once you reach this spot you really have a hard time pulling away to see the rest of the... More

Don't expect the amenities of urban life when you visit this beautiful island, with its friendly people. But it's a great place to visit to chill out, recharge one's batteries, all the while taking advantage of it's fantastic coastal trail network, photo-friendly fishing villages, and sea food.

This island is beautiful but not in a slick modern way. It has a old school feel and crazy gorgeous scenery. We rented a cottage on the ocean and had the prettiest sunrises I've ever seen. Gorgeous sunsets from both end of the island. The people of this beautiful place may be the real gem. Super nice and they sincerely... More

We planned to stay only 2 nights on Grand Manan at Anchorage Park; however we were sucked in by the friendly islanders & the beauty of the island itself (even in the rain). You must visit the local artisan bakery in North Head and try the St. John bread. We also tried our hand at cooking live lobster, eating dulce... More

We were lucky enough to rent a friend's home for seven glorious days (only one of which rained) and we spent two or three days combing the beaches (Stanley's Beach and Seal Cove Beach) for beach glass and other treasures. We explored the island and wandered through many of the local shops. North Head Bakery - absolutely yummy treats and... More

Went on a whale watching sailboat tour. Fantastic! Service was great, saw whales and seals. First time on the island and was impressed with the overall experience. The crew were very nice.
