The Royal Winnipeg Ballet and its production of the Nutcracker is a classic family activity in December. I finally had a willing child to accompany me this year, and I am glad we went. The production is delightful. the classsic music of Tchaicovsky but with a Canadian flare, the production begins with an outdoor scene of boys playing hockey and... More

way to much drawn out. I understand wanting to showcase the dancers talents but a few of us almost walked out until the little bears came out. also, i expected better syncronization among the dancers. if the rwb wants to go to the next level, they need to improve alot.

This was my daughters first ballet and mine in many years. We had an absolute wonderful time and my daughter was mesmerized by the whole production. The seats were fantastic, the production was beautiful and expertly put together, and the theater itself was ran very well. The only reason I did not give this five stars is because the venue... It's "Royal" for a reason. You feel like you have been treated royally, to the best presentation possible. My daughter and I have season tickets (while my wife goes to football!). Although this years "Swan Lake" was not as powerful as past performances, the other shows were terrific. When the WSO plays in the pit, you get a double whammy.... More

Beautifully executed. Programming can be hit or miss, but they always deliver. I was particularly taken with Going Home Star. It is a bit pricey, but there is an excellent option for under 30's.

To view behind the scenes the effort of dancers and choreographers in putting together a ballet was a remarkable experience. The reality of what it takes to become a dance performer is awe inspiring. It afforded the opportunity to view a rehearsal do so, you will come away with an admiration for this art form,

A lot of rolling around on the floor with very little dancing. Awful. Principal dancer did nothing except prance around. Why call it a ballet? It was like kids rolling around on the ground pretenting. Too much acting and NO dancing. $100+ each what a waste.

I knew I was going to be in Winnipeg during the production of Swan Lake, and ordered a ticket online. It arrived a few days after I ordered. Swan Lake was such a beautiful ballet. Lovely music, magnificent dancing. This was a thoroughly enjoyable production. Even from my *cheap* seat on the extreme left, I could see the stage very... More

I will admit I'm not a ballet expert. I cannot even name the different ballet positions with any degree of reliability. However, I am learning and I do appreciate the art form. However, having attended both the Mariinsky Ballet in St. Petersburg and the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow, I can say the Royal Winnipeg Ballet is definitely in the same... More
