Assuming you realize you're talking about visiting the shore of Hudson Bay once ice is beginning to form on the salt water, you could do no better than visit the tundra with Great White Bear Tours. Their tundra buggies are extremely comfortable & well-heated -- not withstanding the fact that everyone opens windows to get better pictures -- and they... More

We spent one day on the tundra with this company after spending the previous day with one of the other companies that run similar tours. Firstly let me say that both of these days were organised by The Great Canadian Travel Company (who we found to be excellent) as part of a 5 day trip to Churchill to see Polar... More

I am rating Great White Bear Tours (GWBT) as "good" not "excellent" not because there is something wrong with them or because I did not like them. The reason is that I expected the bear tour to be the culmination of our trip to Churchill, and it was not. Why? Keep reading and you will find out. We went to... More

We spent three nights in Churchill Canada this month. Two of the days were spent on "polar rovers" that you go on for about 8 hours, driving on the Canadian tundra looking for the bears. The vehicle from this company is very comfortable. They seat about 30 but only take a maximum of 15 so everyone has plenty of room... More

We went with Natural Habitat Adventures on a Great White Bear tour in November. We saw many bears, including mothers with cubs and young males play-fighting, as well as ptarmigan, fixes (Arctic and silver) and Arctic hare. Our NatHab guide (Sue) was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable about the local environment and wildlife. She and our rover driver, Baz, worked... More

We were with Natural Habitat on a Great White Bear tour in early November. It was a photography tour and we spent 3 full days on the Tundra and saw bears, bears and more bears. We saw Moms with babies, and dancing bears, and Arctic fox and hares and ptarmigan. We brought home the best pictures you could imagine. Our... More

We spend two days and one night with Bill out on the tundra (part of Natural Habitat tour package) Between our Natural Habitat guide, Karen Walker (who was awesome) and our driver- Bill..we had the best combination one could hope for! Karen was experienced, knowledge and fun to be around. Here's a woo-hoo shout-out!!! Bill was also experienced, knowledgeable but... More

If you only do 1 thing in Churchill this must be it! If you're there in polar bear season it will be an experience you won't forget. It doesn't come cheap, like everything in Churchill, but it will most likely be a once in a lifetime event for most people (it was for me). The lamb stew lunch that was... More

Its a big operation to run these tundra vehicles - they need to be very tough to get through the terrain and so will you. We saw several bears including a close-up encounter whilst driving through the park which was great, but it is a very long day. Even with the padded seats it was hard going by the mid... More

Going to see polar bears in “The Polar Bear Capital Of The World”, Churchill, Manitoba is by no means a cheap proposition. Most people go to Churchill as a part of a tour group but at certain times of the season you can book individual day tours with various companies. For my trip to Churchill last September I booked a... More
