Seems like we caught the gentleman at a bad time, he wasn't very helpful. Similar to most rock and gem stones, prices not great. Jewellery could have been cleaned for display... read more

Seven of us (four adults and 3 children all under 11 yrs old) left the shop on Hwy97 at 9:15 am. None of us knew what to expect. Bob gave us a brief rundown before we left as to what we would be looking for. For my part, I knew I wanted to find precious opal and somewhat naively I... More

I was more than pleasantly surprised. I thought Bob was very friendly, helpful, and informative. The trip to the mine was rough and steep in places but no problem with 2 wheel drive and good ground clearance.I got a few gem quality opals very happy!

On my cross country trip to Canada this June I specifically choose a route to take me to Vernon so I could go on the tour. I discovered that they are only done on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I would only be passing thru and since i would be there on Tuesday I decided to visit the shop. We arrived... More

Seems like we caught the gentleman at a bad time, he wasn't very helpful. Similar to most rock and gem stones, prices not great. Jewellery could have been cleaned for display, silver polished. May have been more interesting if we had the time to mine the opals.

A unappreciated, excellent quality, Canadian Gem. The season has not even started but the shop/store was open. The Opals are beautiful. I wish I had (hopefully will one day) been able to go to the mine. Still snow covered though. Bob is knowledgeable about his opal gems. Good experience, considering it was off season. Still came away with some nice... More

A very expensive trip. The opals are beautiful and it was fairly interesting. A friendly face and a welcome would have gone so far. We didn't bother to go back to the store front after the trip. Maybe she was just having a bad day

In response to this businesses remarks regarding my review- perhaps you should learn something from the reviews you've had. Maybe it's fortunate for you that the rest of the tourists that were on this same trip as the three of us didn't write a review. We ALL felt the same. Learn from it instead of lashing out.

I thought I was being quite polite in my response -- I did not lash out but rather offered a different perspective. I'll try again. A agree some people are not as successful as others but still enjoy the experience we offer (everyone finds something) and some people just cannot be pleased as their expectations are too high. Cheers. More

I was there a few years ago when I first moved here. Went on this expensive, dig for your own opals. Was a brutal trip in the hills and the group of us got to go through the rubble that had already been shredded for opals.... good luck trying to find anything. a long day really hard on your vehicle,... Out of all the people who have gone to our site to dig for opal there have been a handful who have complained and you are one. Check out this story to see the other side. Following is an excerpt from an article published by Castanet titled 'Treasure-hunter-unearths-opals'. See pictures on our Facebook page and look up the rest of... More

This is a cool little attraction to squeeze in if you have time. You can either go to just the gift shop which is reasonably priced considering it is real opal. Or you can go up to the mine and for $50 you can go and mine and take up to 5 pounds worth of opal, or materials you find.... More
