Went for the first time to the Christmas tree display this year, it was fantastic. Over 70 Christmas Trees decorated by different local businesses. The hotel was gorgeous, the staff was very friendly and their new skating rink was being enjoyed by lots of skaters. Great evening, can't wait until next year.

Snobby and extravagant, simply delicious teas, which is what I sampled. The decor is gorgeous British Colonial, and simply fascinating. High teach was delicious.

I found the Empress to be cold, and uninviting. Their staff welcomes you, but you get the feeling they are not really sincere. The tea costs over $70 for one person when you add in the tip and the taxes, and is definitely not worth it. Put your time and money to much better use elsewhere,

Despite it's reputation and grandeur it's not as expensive as it looks or as one might expect, which may deter some from even considering staying here. Instead you should consider it your number one go to place to stay in Victoria at least once. It's historic beauty, charm & location can't be beat anywhere else in Canada. Accommodation is exquisite... More

You do not need to book a room to enjoy the Empress. Right now the corridors are lined with tens and tens of beautifully decorated Christmas trees. Stroll the Empress and soak up some of yesteryear. Top the evening off with curry buffet at the Bengal Lounge.

But, we were disappointed in the service in their cocktail area. It was slow, and the waitress spent most of her time chatting with the guests at two other tables. We were not guests of the hotel, but wanted to visit and see how it compared with other Fairmont properties.

From the moment of check in till you check out you will be continually impressed with the service , quality and deep historical value that this fine hotel offers you. The rooms are old but nostalgic.

This hotel is a must see. Also, you must participate in their afternoon tea. A complete experience that when in Victoria is a must.

Whenever we did not travel somewhere exotic for our anniversary, we stayed at the Empress. We have celebrated many milestone anniversaries there in the past, but our 55th last year was one that will always be remembered. From arrival to departure our weekend was just short of magical. We were upgraded to a luxurious suite on the Fairmont Gold floor.... More
