Very upscale hotel. Went there for a tour not to stay Afternoon tea was very expensive $59 per person but the experience was awesome. The Bengal lounge is great for a drink. Lots of leather couches, etc.

Stop here and walk around the beautiful grounds and have tea in the hotel, a unique experience. It's across from the harbour so make sure to have at least 4 hours to spend exploring.

Going to the Fairmont Empress Hotel for tea is over-rated and expensive!! Wouldn't recommend it when there are less expensive options in Victoria.

Tea Time was delightful! I have been Gluten Free for 20 years and to my delight, they offered a full GF tea tray of sweets and savories. I felt like a queen.

This place is located in the best possible location in the city. Also, the history and views of and from this hotel are amazing. The rooms and inside are nice, but are definitely antiquated (for a reason) and some modern amenities don't seem to be present. The rooms (especially bathrooms) are pretty small, but the views out of the rooms... More

Mandy, our guide and owner of Walkabouts Historical Tours, which conducts these and other walking tours in the city, appeared dressed in the height of fashion for an... More

Couldn't see very much on the inside unless you took "a tour". Lot's of other hotels in the world show off their wonderful architecture inside and out.

Even thought I did not stay at this hotel, I spent some time exploring it. The atmosphere is old elegance and you can imagine what it was like over 100 years ago as it housed the rich and famous of that time. They are famous for the afternoon tea - too pricey for me, but I did get a peak... More

My roommate and I traveled from Vancouver to Victoria to see one of our friends. We stayed at the Empress for the 1 night. Room as very spacious and accommodating. I really enjoyed my stay and would stay there again. Friendly staff.
