This hotel is the center piece of the beautiful inner harbour of Victoria. A walk through the hotel and grounds is a must. As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel is over a hundred years old and it very elegantly reflects it's age. Having said that, the wall of our room was thin. You could hear the people talking in... Staying at the Empress is like a step back in time, but with the amenities of today's world. It can be pricey, but for us it was worth the price. We were upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite, which was very spacious, clean and had an amazing view overlooking the inner harbor. We were also on the concierge floor which... More

Very elegant and British feeling, but definitely out of our class. The grounds are gorgeous, though. And everyone is welcome to wander inside around the tea room and retail shops. Definitely worth visiting, but, honestly, I wouldn't want to stay there :)

Fantastic building and grounds! You need to see it to believe it. Plan on visiting the Tea Room and the Bengal Lounge.

Built over 100 years ago this hotel is a must ! Royalty & stars have stayed there . Luxury is the theme . Tho you don't have to stay there to see it . Several fine restaurants & shops . If you seek modern it may not be for you. However if old world charm & luxury is what you... More

Nice room, not spectacular. Good pianist, but the tea sandwiches were rather common. Scones fantastic and desserts good. However, price is outrageous!

Being in the Bengal room is what I imagine it would be like to be in Colonial times in India. I always enjoy the ambiance of having a drink here. The service is excellent and the music is always pleasant.

We knew it would be expensive but decided to go anyway. We asked for a seat by the window and were given one to our surprise. Everything else about the experience was just as satisfying. The food was delicious, we were not hurried and our waiter gave us first class attention. It was all just a little glimpse of luxury!

Having visited Victoria several times before on business and not done any more than wander around the hotel, as this time it was a holiday trip I just had to do the Afternoon Tea! In the period surroundings of the Tea Room, with the pianist playing softly in the background, looking through the window to the harbour, the setting couldn't... More
