Nice room, not spectacular. Good pianist, but the tea sandwiches were rather common. Scones fantastic and desserts good. However, price is outrageous!

Being in the Bengal room is what I imagine it would be like to be in Colonial times in India. I always enjoy the ambiance of having a drink here. The service is excellent and the music is always pleasant.

We knew it would be expensive but decided to go anyway. We asked for a seat by the window and were given one to our surprise. Everything else about the experience was just as satisfying. The food was delicious, we were not hurried and our waiter gave us first class attention. It was all just a little glimpse of luxury!

Having visited Victoria several times before on business and not done any more than wander around the hotel, as this time it was a holiday trip I just had to do the Afternoon Tea! In the period surroundings of the Tea Room, with the pianist playing softly in the background, looking through the window to the harbour, the setting couldn't... More

Went for afternoon tea, a must for those visiting the Empress. It is a true English tea, although a tad expensive, the experience is well worth it. Sit back and enjoy the atmosphere and the excellent service with sandwiches, scones with cream/jam, and multi little dessert cakes - really enjoyed my Earl Grey tea, steeped just right. The room that... More

We did the tea as a 2 in 1 cruise excursion w/the Butchart Gardens. I was looking forward to the tea least of our excursions, but it turned out to be really lovely. The food was so good and abundant. Service was exceptional. If you're traveling w/a larger party, their tables don't hold more than 6 normally, although they squeezed... More

Well it is an iconic hotel and it is well situated. We flew over by sea plane and it was a short walk to the hotel. We had to have afternoon tea, which was good but a bit pricey.

Even if you don't want or can't afford high tea at the Empress it is well worth a free walk around the garden and interior halls.

The wife did the tea thing there. Not me, not my cup of tea. Pun intended. :) She had the tour and enjoyed it. It's a grand old place. I did stay there many years ago on a company trip and enjoyed it.
