Having tea at the Empress is part of the Victoria experience. It's haughty and overpriced, but the little finger foods were delicious and the service was excellent.

the hotel had a extensive Christmas tree display that went on forever. It was lovely to see the beautiful trees in such a beautiful environment. Very English.

We went to the Empress for high tea and it was exceptional. We opted for all of the extras on food and it was well worth it. Service is impeccable and the overall experience is pricey but something to remember. Recommended.

We love staying at the Empress! From the initial interaction with the doorman on arrival, it's always pleasant. The staff is friendly, not stuffy, the rooms are very nice and quiet, and best of all - our poodles are treated like welcome guests, not tolerated guests. There are lots of gardens around the outside to stroll in, restaurants and attractions... More

While the Empress is a very old (meaning classic, in this case) hotel and our room was not updated like we might expect considering its reputation, everything else about our stay there every bit made up for a lack of modernity. Each of the staff we interacted with was incredibly gracious and helpful, the restaurant was very good (they actually... More

We loved walking thru the hotel this Christmas and enjoyed the beautiful trees decorated all around. The charm, the history, the art work, all make it worth a visit. But don't feel the pressure to buy the high tea at $50 a pop. Instead go to Murchies up the street for a tea and treat. The overpriced spa was worth... More

We have stayed at this hotel in the past and have spent the last couple of years living just a short walk away from this iconic establishment! They have set-up a nice ice skating rink in front of the hotel for the public to use (small fee & skate rentals available). The public are always welcome for the high tea... More
