We had tea at the hotel. A lovely dining room. The tea consisted of little sandwiches and little pastries, lots of carbs! You feel surrounded by history.

A really lovely afternoon, charming and traditionally English. They provided me with gluten free options, the cakes were delicious. I was surprised at how casually dressed some of the other guests were, it would have been nice to see people making the effort to look smart in such lovely surroundings. We had a window table, which made the afternoon even... More

My second time at this outstanding hotel. Great location…walk to shopping, Parliament, BC Museum, harbor. The High Tea is a must…great presentation, ambiance, piano music…just about everything. Wonderful shops in the hotel! My room was bright and high floor which I prefer. No a/c at the Empress, but it was quite comfortable. Service and staff very welcoming.

This was our second visit to the Empress Hotel and we were not disappointed. The tea is a bit pricey but the experience is so worth it. We were seated near the window and had a delectable time! Our waiter was very nice and even took our photo which was so much nicer than us trying to take a selfie!... More

We did not stay at the hotel but walked through and explored some of the gardens and courtyards. The place was beautiful and very impressive. Several people from the area told us it was a must see. I was glad we walked around a bit.

We were tempted by the desk clerk to upgrade to gold.....well worth the expense. The room wasn't superb but the gold lounge was exceptional. The service within and treats, food, drinks, afternoon tea, breakfast, etc, etc. The staff were amazing and helpful, well worth the upgrade.

Step back in time at this piece of history. Although we didn't take "High Tea" on our visit, the room was full and guests seemed to be enjoying themselves. Upscale shops provided window shopping opportunities, and the Bengal Room - complete with wall hides - is a glimpse into an old "Gentleman's Club". The old wall mounted brass mailbox is... More

While this old gal has definitely seen better days, and high tea was I thought overpriced, it was a great experience. Wouldn't do it again but glad I did it once!

Worth a look but very expensive to eat there. We did join the queue for tea but an afternoon tea was $60 Canadian.
