The best part of this hotel is the rich history and the stories behind it. We did the ghost tour and heard the story of how the architect was murdered by his mistress' boyfriend. The hotel itself would be 4 star from Canadian standards and for the money you pay for a room you really have to appreciate the history... More

Restaurants, shops, and a beautiful building take you back in time to BC when it was British. The Bengal Lounge offers a $30.00 curry extravaganza.

Whether it's stopping by for tea, or taking a quick stroll through, it's worth the time. I love taking a moment to embrace the architecture, design, and decor. Also, I met Kid Rock, Pamela Anderson, and Wayne Gretzky here once so I guess that's pretty neat too.

The essence of hospitality. The staff are truly what make this Hotel a wonderful place to stay at or to simply enjoy a meal . All staff were polite and helpful - from the front desk to the kitchen staff!

We went the first day and where told: go to the reservation office, but it was close. Went back to the tea room and the same attendant told us "the reservation office closes at 4:445 pm... I ended up doing a reservation online for the next day. That night read some reviews and I was doubting on it, but finally... More

I have stayed at the Empress a few times on many journeys to Victoria ( we are from the Vancouver area a short ferry ride away ). It gives you a sense of history. It is a classy place to stay. Kind of reminds us of staying at the Banff Springs Hotel. I must admit that the rooms are small... More

Gorgeous heritage building right at the foot of Victoria Harbour! I use a power wheelchair, and just cannot give it top marks for Accessibility, poor signage re: accessibility, BUT if you persevere, you can get about the place...eventually. Great view from the patio, fine dining. Gorgeous gardens!

I know why the price is $60....I met the person who runs and it they said that when it was at $20, they had line ups. They needed to somehow contain the people, so the raise the price to $40, still line up, finally they raised the price to $60 and there is still a waiting list! So was it... More

Great historical Hotel.. We enjoyed walking around the lobby and around the convention center. Nothing but a great place to see some history.
