Went to High Tea one afternoon. Booked in advance, got a lovely window seat. Perfect tea and service. Lots of little sandwiches and sweets to eat. Were given pretty box with tea inside to take home.

We did not stay overnight but did enjoy High Tea on our day trip to Victoria. A very pleasant experience I highly recommend if you are visiting Victoria.

The Empress Hotel is more impressive on the outside than the inside. The outside of the Empress is beautiful with ivy covered wall and empressive facade. The gardens are magnificent as well. I found the inside ot the Empress to be very dated. The furnishings are old looking and of need of replacing. The lighting was dark and dreary. I... More

When you walk in you are greeted by the days of Yore! But all of the facilities are up to date and spot on with great staff and attentive extras while there. Rooms are old school charm with updated goodies [TV, etc.]. The high tea is an experience to enjoy, after all perhaps you're ancestors stayed here before your parents... More

The basement has a hotel archive with artifacts, photos and hotel records that are very interesting. You really feel like you're stepping into the past when you walk through the tea room and the downstairs hallways. Very beautiful and an authentic old-timey experience.

I stayed in this hotel a couple of years ago but I will always remember it. I had a room with a view of the harbor and it was lovely. I must admit I never had a meal in the hotel or High Tea as it was expensive to do so, but the location and ambiance of this establishment is... More

Really enjoyed wandering the historical halls ogling the gorgeous architecture, historical photos and explanations, and (since it was early December) the dozens of Christmas trees and dioramas decorated for charity fund-raising. The lights on the trees outside were incredible as well.

The view from the front windows in the lobby/tea room are indeed spectacular as is the ambience in the room; however, I say tour the hotel and have your refreshments somewhere less overpriced and perhaps with something appetizing. The dried up little sandwiches leave a lot to be desired , you get about four finger sandwiches with less than a... More

This is a beautiful nostalgic building and hotel in the heart of Victoria Harbour. It will be remodelled in the near future to upgrade all services there and new owners will maintain its old-world charm during renovations. Truly beautiful in all seasons, but Christmas is my favourite.
