This place describes how much of the rest of Canada views Victoria. Old, warn and a bit smelly. It's neat to see the history of it, but it's not much of a stop if you're not well over the age of retirement. As always, it was under major renovations when we stopped by.

If you're in Victoria, you have to take the time to take a tour of the gorgeous Empress Hotel. The decor is beautiful and it's best to see this in the Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter. Get the hint? It's always great to see.

I was out to lunch with some friends and decided to have Tea at the Empress. It was selected due to be something I wanted to do, plus a local discount being offered. The location in the mezzanine above the lobby was fine and those who sat at the windows had an excellent vantage point. The tea and offerings were... More

We only had a few hours to visit Victoria as one of our ports on an Alaskan cruise. We had a pedicab haul our butts around downtown, in the dark, in the rain. But he was very pleasant! We got to spend a little time at this hotel and learned a lot of the history of the building and the... More

The hotel itself is amazing. The inside is like a castle but I found everything to be a bit outdated. Not in bad way though it just wasn't for me. I felt very underdressed in my jeans and button up shirt. Even though we didn't stay here the staff were more then happy to let us look around. Overall I... More

Stayed at the Empress Hotel with my friend for 3 nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful - they had great recommendations for sight seeing in Victoria. I would stay there again

nice place, recently purchased, major changes in the interior, over priced, there are many hotels that off better that are smaller for a vastly better price, good place for a cocktail, I stayed ther a while back and was very disappointed

We didn't stay at the Empress during this visit to Victoria, only enjoyed the gardens and strolled through the lobby. It is currently under renovation, so not all facilities are open and the front is covered in wrap. The high tea is a Victoria tradition and should not be missed. Yes, it is expensive, but definitely worth the experience. On... More
