Worth the time to see because it is like stepping back in history when you step inside. The shops have unique, granted expensive, items but are worth a look. The lounges and restaurants are first class as are the gardens. The gardens alone make a stop mandatory.

We did not stay at the Empress, but we enjoyed walking around the grounds and through the lobby areas. The hotel and grounds are beautiful! We also enjoyed the tea shop. We bought tea that is absolutely delicious! All of the staff that we came in contact with were very nice and helpful. If I get to go back to... More

I appreciate the grandeur of this hotel and its preservation. Not enough large old hotels exist anymore. I did not stay here, but walked through the first floor.

Forget high tea. My wife and I had a memorable lunch of sea food chowder, a mixed seafood tower and a drink each for just on $100. Great waiter service with an iconic view of Victoria Harbour.

This building is most impressive from the outside. We went inside but it was rather boring. Unless you have a set place in the hotel you are going, you can skip it.

A great building by the same architect as lots of other iconic buildings in Victoria. Having seen the prices of high tea we declined to go in, we can get higher standard at home cheaper.

The hotel is a definite landmark and distinguished hotel. Extravagant, but refined, it's highlighted with history and a wonderful tea service. Traditional tea was excellent, the food was on par with the best I've experienced (we've had several tea dining opportunities). Absolutely fantastic staff. Sam's the best!

What can I say...it's an impressive building inside and out. Outside there's a beautiful rose garden, gorgeous hydrangeas, there's benches where you can take in the beauty of this magnificent building, smell the flowers, watch people go by or simply admire the scenery. You can't beat the inside either! Beautiful ceilings, woodwork, light fixtures, floors, windows, shops, restaurants, etc. This... More

$250 for tea and crumpets for 3 adults and a child is nuts. The service was very good, but the tea and finger foods were lack luster. Would have been worth $85-$95, not $250!
