This expansive beach offers fantastic picnicking opportunities, swimming, beach volleyball, or simply a panoramic view of Vancouver and the mountains. Spanish Banks tends to be a quieter beach which makes it very family-friendly.

Spanish Banks is the perfect location for just about any kind of outdoor activity. Nearby are awesome wooded trails for quiet walking when the weather is too warm. People do also need to realize that the area in front of the first few parking lots is an OFF-LEASH dog park. So..if you have a problem with doggies getting in your... More

This is a great beach to enjoy an afternoon to sit and appreciate the views of the ships and the water or an fun place for a walk. We enjoyed watching the sunset here one evening which made for a spectacular view!

Lovely local beach that stretches far west. I walk here several times a week and it's always therapeutic. The colours change depending on weather and the time of year but the view is alway spectacular. Avoid summer weekends before 6 or 7 pm - the place is crazy busy and parking is hard to find. It can seem almost deserted... More

This is one of our lovely beach areas and you can take a nice walk along this one as well just relax against a big log and watch the tide lap into shore. Great views of the mountains...can even play beach volleyball or grab a snack from the beach hut.

Very scenic and the mountains in their glory are the best ever. The views here are the best. When tides go out you can walk out and it's a long walk so be careful you do not get caught later on walking as the tides do come back in fast. Parking is horrible fills up fast so you need to... More

Have been coming here for 62 years and hope to have a few more visits. I love this place, beautiful beach with stunning views of Vancouver and the mountains and the water. When the tide is out it is a joy to walk on the wet sand and in the warm pools of water left behind. Sunrise, sun midday and... More

Spanish Banks is a beach park close to UBC. There is always something interesting it see or do. Anytime of year, if you walk by the beach early in the morning, you are likely to see Great Blue Herons fishing in the shallow water as well as Bald Eagles (hint: if you see crows harassing a bigger bird or hear... Your GPS tracker may show you walking on water but this is tremendous tidal flat for LONG walks. Sand, no rocks. You feel as though you can almost touch the ships anchored in the bay. Recommend you wear water shoes or flip flops for getting over the shore line rocks. See the Vancouver skyline and North shore mountains from a... More
