This expansive beach offers fantastic picnicking opportunities, swimming, beach volleyball, or simply a panoramic view of Vancouver and the mountains. Spanish Banks tends to be a quieter beach which makes it very family-friendly.

Lovely beach

Great beach which is a bit less busy then the ones closer to the city center. I like going by bike and just enjoy the day at the beach!

majestic mountain looking north, unreal fancy mansions turning head back, container ships fleeting up in the middle, downtown Vancouver on the right and ocean without boundary on the left. A long walkway stretching into the water where you can catch local crab.

check tide charts and go at low tide. Need a car to drive there or 4th ave bus from downtown and then 1/2 hour or more walk to Spanish. Walking on hard wet sand has never been so much fun. Watch the skim boarders and walk out for what seems like miles. you can see the channel marker where the... More

Here the locals have access to their beach. It is in the Kitsilano area and there is a small bus connection during weekends. If you can walk, you can visit everyday taking the big city bus #4 and walking about 1/2 hour to the Banks. There are a couple of food stands with the delicious salmon burger.

Definitely a must to take stroll on Spanish Banks on a sunny day. Hundreds of sail boats circling the freighters parked is fun to watch. With shallow water, tons of sand, and ski-hills in the background this is a photographer's dream.

goes on for miles and miles...you can find a spot to yourself or be in amongst the crowds. It's less manicured, not for the fancy folks, but more for the nature lovers. Beautiful beach....best sand too.

The water can be warm in the summer - when the tide comes in - people watching always fun. Lots of space on the wide sandy beach - even on weekends.
