Near the university, but feels like 100 miles away - ocean views up Howe Sound, and wide swim-able beach.

Find out online the time of low tide and then head to Spanish Banks for a lengthy stroll on a sandy beach to marvel at spectacular views of downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park, West Vancouver and the North Shore mountains. This expansive beach is usually less crowded and calmer than others.

I love Spanish Banks because its not as crowded as the others. Its just near UBC so it is quieter and more peaceful. I like to sit down here and meditate and smell the ocean.

Beautiful views of the city, lots of spaces to sit even on busy days. Parking can be challenging though.

My husband & I visited Spanish Banks Beach while we were vacationing in the Vancouver area. This beach was a lot more quiet / less crowded than other local beaches we visited. It seemed like a nice beach to relax & enjoy the views, particularly at sunrise or sunset. The coastal views as well as the views of downtown Vancouver... More

This is one of my favorite places in Vancouver, several kilometers out of the city center one finds wonderful beach area where people come to walk or run and enjoy the view of the water and mountains/

The view, breeze and sun were perfect, and it appears to be a location where volleyball is played. The beach is a bit dirty, though, with bits of burned and rotted wood and broken glass around. It isn't the type of beach to walk without care so wear sandals. However it was nice to wade out a bit at low... More

There is a stretch of sandy beach that extends from Jericho, to Locarno, to Spanish Banks. Spanish Banks is the farthest west of the three beach areas, and is great for swimming, for kids to play in the sand, have a picnic at one of the area's picnic tables, or just kick back with a book, suntan, and enjoy the... the view of the sunsets from the banks is incredible, great to come here during sunset hours with a friend(s) and watch the sunset.

Much more quiet area of Vancouver with the lovely beaches and views. Great for any activity, especially nice for a run, dog walk, picnic or a date!
