We got out of the YVR airport at roughly 9pm. It's dark, it's rainy, it's cold and your freezing in a foreign country after almost 36h between flying and waiting in airports. You have an address and a few instructions on how to get there. That was my situation and all I could think was "I deserve a cab". Well,... More

I found the skytrain really easy to use and extremely clean. The only downside is that the different lines only connect at a few points so the bus also needs to be used as well as opposed to just using the skytrain.

If you are planning on staying in Vancouver - renting a car may not be required if you don't mind transit. You can take the sky train from the airport and both ferries (with a bus transfer) since Vancouver is upgrading to the compass system - you'll need to get a compass pass or card (car is great as its... The SkyTrain, particularly the Canada Line, which was built for the Olympics, makes a very inexpensive easy and quick connection from the Vancouver International Airport and downtown Vancouver. The seats are spacious and there's plenty of room for your luggage so it is a must do way of getting into Vancouver. The fare is very inexpensive with only a slight... More

A great way to get from one end of the City to another or from outlying areas around Vancouver. Does get very busy during rush hours and sports games.

We took the sky train from the airport straight into town. It was so easy and quick, got off just a block from our hotel. Would use again .

Well, can't complain too much about the Skytrain -- except of the recent upgrades/maintenance it has been working on lately. I mean it gets where u need to go when you need to. But last year too many breakdowns - which needs to be worked on! Get good views from the windows that you are sitting near too would help!!

The Skytrain was 2.90 per person to get to downtown. Another $2.90 to get back to the airport. With four of us travelling with ski luggage we couldn't fit into one taxi so the train was the best way to get into the centre of town and no doubt the quickest. From there we could walk a block or two... More

It can be a great way to get around the lower mainland and a lot cheaper than taking a car and paying ridiculous parking prices in the downtown area. It can also get you there a lot faster, ie. I can get from my station in Burnaby to downtown in 20-25 minutes at peak hours where a car drive will... More

It can take you to the main points at the city. From the airport it is more expensive (5 dollars more than the regular price) but still cheaper than a taxi.

Staying in Yaletown & False Creek North

Neighborhood Profile
Yaletown & False Creek North
Yaletown has risen from the ashes of its rough-and-tumble industrial past into one of Vancouver's new chicest neighbourhoods. The place responsible for originating of the phrase 'skid row' might not call to mind independently-owned boutiques and terraced cafes, but having swallowed the waterfront lines of False Creek North, the resulting amalgamation transformed the area into an elegant, stylish hotspot with a view. Its youthful vibe owes to the many young families and young professionals who live there, bolstering nightlife and restaurant variety along its cobbled streets. It is the flagship neighbourhood for modern revitalization, and the It-Spot for boutique hotels and modish eats.
