Photowalks are the best way to see our beautiful city, learn and practice...

Photowalks are the best way to see our beautiful city, learn and practice the basics of photography, and get out of the automatic setting on your camera! In two hours, we cover exposure, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, composition and basic portraiture. You are guaranteed to have a ton of FUN! Lead by a professional photographer, you are given tools, and an opportunity to explore a scenic area (Stanley Park, Canada Place, Chinatown, Gastown, Strathcona and Granville Island) with your camera, and given small learning objectives. Introductory classes are offered during the day, and more intermediate low-light classes in the evening.

Suzanne was so welcoming and helped a novice like myself feel comfortable using a camera. I learned a lot about photography in our short time together and can't wait to take more photos. Dress warmer than you think you should. It gets cold when you're not moving. Overall a great experience that allowed me to see my city in a... More

I was in Vancouver for about a week and received a photo walk as a gift. I had a wonderful time! Ekaterina was an amazing guide and was more than willing to tailor the walk to my level of experience. She's evidently adept at teaching people who have never worked with an SLR before, but when she learned that I... More

Spent 2 hrs. in Stanley Park and had a fabulous time. I lucked out because I ended up being the only one that was there, besides the photo guide. Had great instructions that have helped me a lot since then. Learned that in order to get better you really have to spend time going out and taking pictures. The hardest... More

I've been into photography for more than 10 years, and despite reading books, doing courses and practicing on my own, I really felt that I learned something quickly and useful about my latest camera doing just one PhotoWalk. A repeating experience? 100% sure! Note: Submitted pictures are just a glance of what I tried because we asked the instructor to... More

Ten years is a long time! We certainly try to give you as much information as possible in the two hour period, without overwhelming you. Hopefully the info sheet will help a little bit too, until we see you again! I really like your shallow depth of field shots, thank you for sharing! More

I had a few hours on my hand before flying back to Shanghai and found good reviews on Vancouver Photowalks. Decided to sign up on a whim and had an amazing experience that combined photography with sight seeing and a bit of history of Vancouver. Suzanne our guide is an excellent teacher, she shared her tips and tricks on night... More

Attending a Vancouver Photowalk is an amazing experience. I was able to explore Granville Island, learn how to use my Canon Rebel XS and meet some incredible people along the way. The tour took place in the evening and it was great to experience outdoor photography in the dark. I had no idea what photo painting was until I attended... More

I was in Vancouver last week to take the train back to Ottawa on "The Canadian" across BC, Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario. I had purchased a camera for the trip and for taking pictures at sporting events. Moving from taking pictures with my cell phone and a compact point & shoot up to a much more sophisticated camera proved to... More

I booked four of their photo tours. Two with Ekaterina and two with Suzanne. All four tours were fantastic. I learned so much especially with regard to camera settings, composition, and night photography. Both instructors were informative and very personal. I would recommend these tours to newbies through to avid photographers. Looking forward to visiting Vancouver again and taking more... More

I spent a really nice couple of hours with Ekaterina along the sea wall. She showed me a few new things about my old camera and helped me with some techniques on using the settings. I learned a lot. Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
With the recent exodus of massive new building projects hitting the neighbourhood, Chinatown; which has always been one of the city's most vibrant areas; is even more buzzing and buoyant than ever before. Playing host to some of the city's best pan-Asian cuisine, from fusion food to traditional home-cooking, Chinatown has remained faithful to its roots as a space which clambers with shop signs and welcomes diners to the table. More that that, it has a hip experimental vibe to it, with trendy pop-ups and catchall market shops. The biggest of Canada's Chinatowns, it is also home to an expansive Chinese garden whose manicured grounds inspire and delight, its ponds and pagodas drawing walkers in for an stroll. Take in the red streetlights, the playful awnings, and the upbeat air that suffuse this area.
