Having moved here from Alberta, I wanted to learn more about Vancouver and Chinatown. I had a Living Social coupon for a 2 for 1 tour of the Waterfront and Chinatown. Lee, the tour guide, met us at the Waterfront Skytrain station, and proceeded to take a dozen of us on a fantastic tour. We learned about the beautiful architecture... More

My family had already gone on a tour bus and groaned when I told them we were signed up for a walking tour of Gastown and Chinatown, areas covered in the bus trip. They wondered what more could they learn. Well I'm hear to tell you we learned plenty and it was fun. Lee was our tour guide. Our group... More

I was on a Gastown/Chinatown tour a couple of weeks ago and just wanted to write to say the tour was very interesting and the guide was excellent! Jana clearly knew her stuff and, more importantly, seemed to really care about the information she shared with us. My friend and I enjoyed ourselves very much. (I’ve lived in Vancouver for... More

The Gastown & Chinatown tour we did during our holiday in Vancouver was outstanding. Our Guide Blaze was passionate, informative, and had great humour mixed into his commentary. We got a great perspective of historic Gastown and Chinatown was quite fascinating. I definitely would recommend this tour to others who want to experience a unique way to see this very... More

I did the Gastown and Chinatown walking tour. The tour was good but not great. I didn't think that for the money it was worth $25CAD. Our tour guide Blaine or Blaze (?) gave a very informative tour. I kept having issues with my headset and stopped using them. It was easier to hear him without the headset. We went... More

I treated my friend to the walking tour today. Luckily for us, the other tourists didn't turn up so we had Jenny Craig, our guide, all to ourselves. She was amazing and so much fun. We live in this city but she opened our eyes to much of its history that we did not know. Jenny was fabulous and it... More

I have lived in Vancouver most of my life (37 years) and have worked in the tourism Industry for over half of it! I found this tour to be extremely informative (great for both locals and visitors!), highly enjoyable and very different from any of the tours I have ever taken...and that's saying a lot as I have taken many... I thought I knew Vancouver very well but learned a few things on this enjoyable two-hour tour of Gastown and Chinatown. We visited lots of places and got to taste a local beer along the way. The guide, Blaise, was great and the whole experience was very positive. I would totally recommend it to others.

We came upon this guided walking tour online and decided to give it a chance. We were so impressed by the amount of things we saw, the knowledgable and personable manner of our guide and the blending of historical fact and current urban culture. We enjoyed tasting a local beer at a Gastown pub and tea in Chinatown! Our guide... More

After numerous visits and six years living in the city in the 1970s, my husband and I thought we knew Vancouver pretty well. Not so! Our 2 hour walking tour of historic Gastown (beautifully and authentically restored) and Chinatown (less beautified but a real window on one of the largest and most vibrant Chinatowns in North America, was a delight... Staying in Gastown

Neighborhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
