The bay is connected to the Seawall wall. In the summer the beach is blanketed with sun worshippers. There are cafes and restaurants abound. One can play putt golf or tennis nearby too. Continue walking along the beach, one can catch a little ferry boat to Granville Island market. There are restaurants and cafes and lots of shops and there... More

Nice area to catch at sunset. Very calm and serene area, especially compared to the bustle of downtown.

English Bay is a peaceful place to just sit and watch the activities @ the beach -- wind surfers, children making castles and the small water crafts leisurely crossing the bay. There are many great restaurants to visit and the variety of food is wonderful.

When the sun is out, people come out in droves to walk the sea walk in English Bay. The sea walk connects to Stanely Park and you can make your walk as long as you like. The scenery along the way is always eye catching regardless of the weather. For the more energetic, you can bike or jog the sea... More

Love English Bay, it's so picturesque and there's so much to see. The view changes all the time, public art is great, good people watching, the weather makes it - ive even seen snow on the beach!

I have lived in Vancouver region most of my life, and I never tire of the view of English Bay, particularly between Stanley park and the past the corner of Denman and Davies. Best place to watch the fireworks in the summer festivals, best place to enjoy the beach, it simply is an excuisite treasure of Vancouver. I am always... More

Visited after walking throughout Stanley Park. Was not busy at all at this time of the year, so was peaceful. Did not get to explore the shops. Lots of restaurants in the area. Lots of logs to sit on and watch the boats in the water.

Seriously? How do you rate something that is so much a part of the city. As soon as there is good weather, people flock to English Bay because it is really special. To walk, ride, sit, or swim here is part of the consummate Vancouver experience. Of course it's better in summer, but I would go in any weather.

I loved English Bay. Lovely shops, many restaurants to choose from, and learned so much about it through the tour bus we were on. Spent a few hours walking around, the beach is beautiful and the shoreline is very picturesque. A must see for any Canadian to know this is the most expensive street in the country to live!!

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
