I took the Rocky Mountaineer train ride to Kamloops in Sept.09, it was disorganized, tremendously overpriced, poor hotels, Goldleaf car was huge disappointment, could only see the sky out of the dome. Not worth the money, much better to drive, choose your own hotels, and stop along the way to take photos at your own pace. more
We opted to travel Gold Leaf and we have absolutely no regrets. The whole experience was breathtakingly beautiful, our seats had loads of legroom, you could comfortably stand up when you got tired of sitting. Downstairs there was a open air viewing platform which was also a great experience and excellent for taking photos. And as for the service -... more
We took this trip from Calgary to Vancouver and add-on to Whistler. We purchased the Gold Leaf service which we highly recommend. Service was great and so was the food and drinks. I was disappointed that much of the trip was by bus and only two full days on the train starting in Banff to Vancouver. That is not clear... more
We did the 2 day Calgary to Vancouver Rocky Mountaineer train trip in September 2009. You can board at Calgary, or at Banff (which we did). You check in for the train at your hotel and are given a badge to wear - red and gold if you are traveling Red Leaf or all gold if you are traveling Gold... more
