We arrived to the gardens via the bicycle trail (received a $1 discount per adult). The gardens are approximately 2.5 miles from Pacific Sands Resort (took us 15 minutes with our young children on bikes -- ages 7 and 10). We are fans of Ann Lovejoy's naturalistic gardening and this garden matched our interests perfectly. Included are native and geographically... more

We decided to risk a visit to the Gardens, notwithstanding the bad reviews on tripadvisor. Partway through our visit, my husband said "My expectations were really low, and I'm still disappointed". The fee is $10 per person. The best flowers are to be seen outside the entrance, at the highway. There are a handful of flowers at the kitchen/vegetable gardens... more

No, this is not a formal flower garden, but rather a an intimate walking experience through constructed and natural areas of native flora set in authentic surroundings, highlighted with whimsical sculptures from local natural materials. That's not to say, however, that there were not beautiful flowers! We spend two hours roaming the paths, enjoying the little surprises that pop up... more

After reading some of the reviews here, we were a little tentative about visiting the garden. But we decided to go and I am so glad we did. What a cool, interesting place. They should almost call it a sculpture garden as well as a botanical garden. There are a lot of hidden areas, so make sure you get a... more

There's a reason why one of the t-shirts Tofino Botanical Gardens sells says "It's not for everyone" (check them out, cool skull!). I can see that some other travellers aren't too sure what a botanical garden is supposed to be, or know what they want to get out of visiting a garden - but this garden is miles ahead of... more

My girlfriend and I spent 2 wonderful nights in a clean and immaculate private double room (with fresh crisp linen) at the Botanical Gardens in Tofino. As hostels go, this knocks the socks off just about all that I have used over the past 7 years. It even gives most of the hotels a good run for the money. The... more

Why do folks who work on providing an attractive entrance feel they must go on to dupe people into paying a $10 fee to view native flora that can be had for free on the side of any local road, or on the wonderful 'free' Pacific Wild Trail just down the road in Ucluelet? Perhaps the fee was to cover... more

We went expecting gardens. Well I supose what we saw could be classed as gardens. I would advise parking the car and having a quick look around before you pay the $10 admission charge. Not very impressed with the Hippie bus that was serving food. The grated carrots were being transferred from a large container to a small counter box... more

I loved this garden. I wanted a quiet day on our vacation and stayed at the garden for hours, wandering and sitting. The art is as interesting as the plants, so if you are interested in sculpture, don't miss it. more

Who are these horticultural snobs giving the TBG a miss? This is delightful, creative, out-of-the-ordinary and best of all a garden so perfectly representative of West Coast life in Tofino/Ucluelet. Want to see exquisitely manicured beds of flawless annuals? Want to see boring expanses of pesticide/herbicide-laden lawns? Then stay away from the TBG. but if what you want is an... more
