Considered by many to be one of the best boardwalk hikes around, you will be immersed in the natural serenity of the temperate rainforest. You can take the easy stairs to the beach, where you can gaze at the gentle waves crashing in. During low tide, an inviting passage presents itself so you can make your way to a small island where you may find bald eagles soaring above. Schooners Cove is nothing less than invigorating and rejuvinating. Truly a picturesque adventure.

Luckily I checked with the Park's visitor center and they told me we could go there in certain hours only, when there is low tide. It varies per the day of the month you visit this region. I didn't notice this important warning in the stuff I read about this trail. In our case the low tide was at 9am... More

The walk to Schooner Cove is just as special as the destination itself. There's plenty of parking at the trail-head, and a washroom as well. Enjoy a quiet (mostly board-walk) stroll to the Cove. Once you're there, you can head off in either direction. It's worth taking some water and snack and staying for a while. Simply gorgeous.

Go early, around 8 and you might just have the beach to yourself. We did and it was great to be able to explore without bumping into anyone. Note there are tons of stairs, but the walk isn't too challenging. The scenery on the walk down is beautiful, certainly worth it.

Plan to bring a picnic and spend the day. The hike to the shore is a boardwalk "stair master" (up and down), so not for anyone with mobility issues. Great rainforest and trees to admire on the way in and out.

At the end of the boardwalk through the rainforest you will find a spectacular cove. If the tide is out you can access a small island and see the water wildlife that abounds.

Fantastic beach and you felt so clam and quiet there. There was hardly anyone on beach despite great weather unbelievable to have this sort of thing in uk for most part.

This hike has a lot of stairs but is very interesting - from big trees and lovely streams to tidal pools at schooner beach, we found tons of star fish and an amazing little island to explore. One of the best hikes we did.

Beautiful boardwalk through the forest down to a large beach. My husband and I spent some time walking along the beach and checking out the cool tidal pools. Would recommend this walk to anyone except those with mobility issues as the boardwalk does have many stairs.
