Departing in February over the family day long-weekend my girlfriend and I were the only people that hiked the Lone Cone. We ascended the mountain from dock-peak in 1 hour and 48 minutes. However we only stopped briefly for water, fixing gear, and for a few photos. I didn't feel exhausted at the top but it does have a bit... More

An amazing hike ! Go with Captain Dennis, who can be booked through Jamies. Very informative and will pick you up at a pre-determined time. When you think you have packed enough water in your backpack ... double it !! snacks too. nothing too heavy. Lone Cone is a climb ! get ready! I have done it 4x now, and... More

We took a chance, it was super foggy when we headed out. The hike is a tough one, lots of elevation gain in a short distance. Once we got to the top, we were pleased to see that the fog had burned off. Got some terrific shots of Tofino and the harbor from the viewpoint.

We took the Tofino Water Taxi to get to this very steep, but also very worthwhile hike! Definitely best on a clear day- so if the normally cloudy weather in Tofino clears, jump on the boat right away! :) Keep the view in mind to motivate you up the tough climb. We lost the trail flags a couple times when... More

Be careful, this hike is advertised as fit for moderately fit people! it's tough I'm fit but not experience such poor track and a possibility for danger, steep incline with plenty of hidden dangers, no air lift possible and very lonely place. little tip when you see the NO PASSING sign continue heading upwards do not turn right, it was... While staying in Tofino we decided to Hike the Lone Cone Trail. While it was fun and rewarding the pamphlet we read only suggest a "moderate level of physical fitness". Now my friends and I are fairly in shape, we hike quite frequently and this trail was a little difficult for us at times. I would definitely recommend reading more... More

Did this hike in Oct 2013. Was a very foggy day but we hoped that by time we got to the top of Lone Cone we would still be afforded the beautiful view we had seen online. Took the Tofino Water Taxi out there (freezing cold journey in October!) Saw some neat waterfowl and sea otters (yes, not river) on... More

Amasing views from the top. Well worth the effort but be prepared for a scramble in places over rocks, through fallen trees, mud...... A truely wonderful experience and the water is great. Takes you there and you just call them when your done...easy

I am not a hiker by ant stretch, but i was intrigued by the pictures I had seen on the internet. On our visit to Tofino I was told that it was a "must do". Well, we arrived on Mearse Island at 0930 and commenced our climb. As we started, the fist KM was fairly easy although a little muddy.... More
