We took the 4 hour guided tour to Meares Island. Neither of us had ever been kayaking before and our guide, Paul, was very detailed, knowledgeable, and thorough. Safety was paramount and Paul's skills made us feel confident from the onset. We saw a number of Eagles; two were mates. We saw two separate eagles feeding; one was in flight... More

I've come here a few times over the years and the experience has always been great. They are professional, informed, and safe. The owner definitely has a passion for what he does, and that passion trickles down to all the staff in everything they do. This passion will wear off on anyone else who goes along with them I am... My wife uses a wheelchair and they made this trip really easy for her, the people there could not have been more helpful and friendly. They supply you with special suits and waterproof gear and a safety talk before the start. Our guide was very knowledgeable and raced across the water in our zodiac boat to find black bears of which... More

We went on the bear watching excursion. Great fun on the RIB. We managed to find a bear on the beach and got in really close. Our first live bear experience was amazing, especially as we had almost given up. The only disappointment was Simon, the guide. He seemed new and inexperienced. He didn't have the chatter and patter that... More

We took two trips with Remote Passages, one bear watching in Clayquot sound and whale watching. The organisation is excellent and the preparation very professional. On our first visit to enquire about whale watching, the young lady was extremely helpful showing us where we would be going and what we would be likely to see. The only reservation is that... More

Whe did the black bear tour and definatly saw them!! In total whe saw 2parents and 4 cups and seaotters and eagles. And with the zodiac you could get really close to them when they where eating! The captain of the boat also had lots of expirience and did know every thing from the Canadian Wild life! This was an... More

We were guests with Alex on the 7 1/2 hour Hot Springs Cove tour a few weeks ago. It was an amazing day - from our knowledgeable tour guide Alex, who grew up in the area and was proud to show us his village - to the sea lions, killer whales, gray whales, the cedar boardwalk to the hot springs... We had a great time with Remote Passage, the knowledge of the guide was great, the Whales were kind enough to come right up beside the boat: we had stopped about 100m away from a pod of 3 when another pod popped up on the other side of the boat about 100m away, then a single whale came up about... We would not recommend anyone go whale watching with Remote Passages in Tofino. A better company would not have taken a group out in the weather we experienced. Everyone on the boat was extremely seasick and one of the passengers eventually had to tell the skipper to go back to base as his daughters were very ill and distressed. The... More

Remote-Passages, Owner at Remote Passages Marine Excursions, responded to this review

On some days during the summer months the west coast is subjected to westerly winds, especially in the afternoon. On other days the winds stay offshore and have little affect on sea conditions throughout the day. We never know what conditions we will operate in from the morning to evening due to the variation in tide and wind. Motion sickness... More

Remote Passages was recommended to us by a cycle hire business in Victoria (Cycletreks Tours) and we were very happy with that recommendation. We booked a guided kayak trip, plus bear watching and whale watching trips. We were given good discounts on the second and third bookings. The excursions were memorable. We had perfect conditions for our kayaking and as... More
