As soon as we entered the store, we were warmly welcomed by owner and kayak guide, Jack. He was extremely thoughtful and attentive to our needs as he provided us boots to walk our kayak across the muddy shoreline and all the essential gear to make our kayak rental a success. Jack pointed out an amazing route and put us... More

The main reason that this place is so great is that it's owned by Jack Rosen, one of the most experienced kayak guides in the area and one of the most accomplished kayakers in the world. This fine fellow things nothing of hoping in his kayak and paddling up to alaska, like 800 miles north of her up the inside... More

My husband and I were on the island and were lucky enough to be there when there was a full moon. Jack was our guide and he was very knowledgable on the tour and helpful getting us inexperienced kayakers geared up and on the water. We had a great time!

Easy booking with Island Escapades. Launch from Southey Pt at north tip of Salt Spring. Good safety briefing, excellent guide - friendly and competent. Beautiful area - highly recommended.

Third time kayaking with Island Escapades. Beautiful sunny day and perfect conditions for a two hour paddle. Our guide, Daniel, was excellent! He explained everything thoroughly and made us feel confident. He was very helpful and patient. The smells, the shoreline, the wildlife.....the friendly group...all made for another memorable kayaking excursion.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful journey out to Chocolate Beach (3 hours) with our guide Nathan. He was very patient in showing us, relative newbies, how to put on our gear and demonstrate how to paddle the kayak. He helped us into our kayaks and got us out on the water. On our adventure we saw: LOTS of... More

We visited Salt Spring Island within the context of "Biomimicry Professional Program" - a two year master's level training that includes online courses and in-person sessions in various biomes. Island Escapades (IE) planned and executed the most important portion of our session. With IE guides we first went through basic kayak training, and then we spent 4 days kayaking around... More

We were (around 20) in Salt Spring Island for our course on Biomimicry and the happy crew of Island Escapades (IE) provided us with an amazing kayaking experience for 4 days together with two local biologists. With zero experience of kayaking, the competent people of IE introduced us to the technique of kayaking and led us for 4 days along... More

I swallowed hard as I handed over my credit card to pay C$308 for a 3-hour outing for myself and three of my children. But thank goodness I did because the full-moon kayaking trip was worth every penny. Our guide Nathan was a fountain of knowledge and he and Emma, his assistant, made sure we all knew what we were...
