Located in north Nanaimo, this is a fabulous park for scenery, walks, sitting on a park bench overlooking the ocean and picnics. Limited parking but haven't seen all spaces full. Some people swim here.

From nice beaches, to rocky hills, to Garry Oak filled forest, to great views of the Georgia Straight and the Coastal Mountains on the mainland, this park has it all. It's a great park to do some beach combing, for walking, and for just relaxing while watching the Ferries or seals float by. One Warning though: when the tide is... More

this park has been a favorite of my family for the past 25 years, I used to bring my children here to explore now I bring my grandson. There is so much here to explore, a gentle walk along the lagoon or climb over the rocks and go out a little farther. We recently went out with grandson (almost 3... More

I have been visiting this beach since I was a child and it was still private property. It was designated a park when I was young and now many visit each day. It is an interesting walk out the spit and around the little rocky area at the beginning of the lagoon. Make sure to venture down to the grassy... More

This is a beautiful spot for a hike around the small island, or just lounge beside the ocean and have a picnic while you watch the ferries cross the Strait amongst the sailboats.

Pipers Lagoon is a delightful hike for people with no mobility issues. If you do have issues, go at low tide so you are able to bypass the large rock at the beginning of the hike. Some of the paths are a bit tricky, but gorgeous nontheless. The beach is lovely and good for swimming on a hot summer day.

There's a small lagoon that turns into a tidal flat when the water goes out. Then, you can scramble around a big rock formation to access a lovely walk through light woods where, around each corner, you will find a different water vista. If you're not there at low tide you have to scramble OVER the rock formation, but I'm... More
