Gorgeous scenery, amazing encounters with wildlife, heart-stopping waterfalls, fabulous guide (Simon Ankenman, Pathways Canada Tour Company), gorgeous campsites, wildflowers everywhere, few bugs. Fat-wheeled carts make the portages much easier than usual. Add in an afternoon at the fascinating historical site, Barkerville, just outside Wells, BC, which you have to pass anyway.

The Provincial Park provides non-stop beauty. The lakes are beautiful, the trails nicely maintained, the park staff friendly and the scenery is nothing short of stunning. The campsites are easy to locate and well maintained. There are some new shelter which provide a nice respite. The circuit is not difficult. Some effort is needed, especially when loading the canoes onto... More

My boyfriend has had the Bowron Lakes canoe circuit on his bucket list since he was a teenager, so we finally booked the trip. It was so cool! We had an amazing time, but we got extremely lucky with nice weather and very few people on the circuit, so we had our choice of campgrounds and lots of privacy. As... More

This was the tenth time that I have enjoyed the Bowron Lakes since my first trip in 1968 with my parents and the third time with my son. A lot has changed in that time but the beauty that one experiences is as exciting as the first time. The weather challenged us with both warm dry days and wet thunderous... More

This has been one of my bucket list items and was able to accomplish it in August 2014 with my teen aged sons. Weather was not the best - only one nice day. A thunderstorm came upon us after the second day - luckily we had just finished dinner. Afterwards we were able to experience a beautiful double rainbow with... More

Appreciate first that the weather has a lot to do with your Bowron experience and we were fortunate to have 8 days of near perfect weather. My wife was a bit anxious when we left and the first portages were a bit of a test if you don't have any other backcountry experience. Still I found the canoe on wheels... More

We did the circuit 11 years ago - now a bit older (71) and wondering if we could do it. We were a party of 14 - 4 canoes and 6 kayaks. Us old folk were in the canoes. Since we were a large group, we were assigned certain camp sites - 7 nights/8 days. The weather was perfect this... More

You have to know that you won't have cell coverage up here. And if you are used to camping BC provincial parks, you'll be used to pit toilets and no showers. Being this far north, there's no swimming, so expect that. Most of the sites were quite private and it wasn't very busy. There were a couple sites that were... More

We stayed at Becker's Lodge and rented their canoe gear. Our cabin was spotless and the service was excellent! They loaded our canoes and drove us to the registration centre. The circuit was amazing - the scenery was beautiful, the wildlife was abundant (several moose, eagles, river otters, pine martins, cranes, bunnies, loons, and a mama bear and her 3... More
