Takes an hour to get to the lake from Jasper. Then you're 'hearded' onto a boat, then your on the lake for an hour before stopping for a 20 minute photo stop at Spirite Island - really beautiful. The claimed "best cruise" is definitely overstated, and a false claim! The lake is beautiful as all other lakes in the Banff-Jasper parks. The cruise is not impressive at all. We really enjoyed our boat ride, although we felt it was a little overpriced - especially considering how far from Jasper we had to drive to get there. The Maligne Lake boat cruise is heavily advertised. However, the scenery on the cruise is no different than the beautiful scenery visible on any other lake in the Rockies. 1 1/2 hour boat ride was nice and very scenic. Like most attractions in Banff/Jasper it was expensive. more

If you've already seen Lake Louise, Morraine Lake, Peyto Lake, Bow Lake, you may be disappointed in Maligne Lake. We were, especially since this lake is a bit out of the way - close to an hour drive from Jasper downtown. We didn't even do the boat tour as it was too expensive. The fee to take the cruise is $55 cad but you can not imagine what you will see. Once at the destination point of the cruise they call it the "Hall of Gods" and it truly is. To not go is to not see a piece of heaven! more
