The trail out past the first bald hill and back to the trailhead is about 14km though most of it is reasonable walk. The first three kilometers has limited views but once you ascend high enough the panorama is amazing; but it gets better. If you follow the pass or go up on to the top of any of the... More

Walk one hour, rest ten minutes and then go uo for ten minutes more. Suddenly, it's so cold and windy like you were in Himalaya. But when you are on the top, it's magic: a 360° view of the range. Spectacular.

This took us about 3 hours and was a pretty solid effort but getting up above the tree line to see the views was well worth it. Plenty of people on the trail so we felt safe at all times.

Great hike. Can be challenging toward the top. However when you get to the top you can see Lake Maligne and Maligne Canyon.

This was one of my favourite hikes in the Rockies - the first section (up to the viewpoint) involves quite a bit of climbing, but it is all up a well-graded trail. We took the hiking trail up (a bit steeper but shorter) and the road down. The views are fairly limited on the way up to the viewpoint, but... More

The trail goes up the mountain, from where nices views of the area are possible. Drawback is that one really needs to go to the summit, as on the way, the views are limited. The trail goes along an old Fire Department trail, and is wide. A shortcut can be taken, going steeply through the woods.

A moderate hike to the top on a roadbed provides 360 degree views of Lake Maligne and area. Bear scat was plentiful, but not steaming ;>)

Rewarding hike with great views! Worth the climb, with endless possibilities once on top! Views of Maligne Lake and the surrounding valleys.

We did this hike today. It was incredibly worthwhile. We took the fire road all the way up and while the shortcut is probably great if you are a strong hiker, the fire road is a bit easier and the walk is scenic in its own right. Once you arrive at the first lookout (with the old hitching post for... More
