Practically a compulsory stop on the Icefields Parkway. We thought we would have lunch here. The first concern we had was the amount of steps to navigate to enter the building. As I had a bad bronchial illness at the time, I found the steps very difficult to climb, having to stop and rest often. We could not see any... More

End of season, lots of junk. Who looks for a clown fish or shark teeth at the Columbia Ice Fields???? Clearly selling to the Pacific market. Bottled water, $4 RIGHT BESIDE A GLACIER....nothing for 100 km so they charge what they charge. You kind of feel like you have to stop there...but don't. It is better to starve or die... More

The icefields are amazing. We have motorcycled through several times. Sometimes the weather can get you. We saw grizzlies off the side of the road not far away once. The facility can be dirty, crowded, overpriced. Just like so many national park areas in the US and Canada. But it is informative and worthwhile I think. These glaciers are retreating.... More

Sounds wonderful but does not live up to hype. Hugely reduced since my first trip. Exensive for what it is.

Well positioned opposite the glacier, with two styles of restaurant available overlooking the glacier. Large car park which I would imagine would be full to overflowing in the peak season. If you have all the information you need from the park brochures/internet and Lonely Planet guides and you don't need to pay a visit to the loo or purchase food... More

This summer my boyfriend and I took his two kids for a day trip to the Icefield Centre. It was EXTREMELY over crowded, dirty, and loud. There was almost nothing available in the cafeteria for food and the options that were available were a huge wait (burgers, fries, and such.) The snacks we bought were way over priced and the... This centre is right across from the Athabasca Glacier and there is a beautiful view of the Glacier and the Rockies from their parking lot. Stay away from the overpriced gift shop where they were selling stuffed bears for $189.00

Ok, no doubt their is price involved...but seriously, if one doesn't not go the ice field centre and walk on the glacier, they are missing out. It is the coolest experience, taking photos on the ice and holding up big chunks of ice in the air, it's amazing.
