I have no kids that are small anymore but I just love this little storybook zoo. From its little train to the storybook settings through out what a great date night. Of course its for the kids...so please go check it out...too much fun!

The zoo's exhibits are too small and they house animals that are inappropriate for the frigid climate 2/3rds of the year. Elephants in particular. New upgrades planned seem to only focus on areas for the general public but no real improvements for the animals housed within it's walls. An international animal rights organization has inducted the Edmonton Valley Zoo into... More

Really enjoyed our trip in early October! It was cooler and there weren't much crowds which made it more relaxing to walk around. We lucked out and got to see the Tiger being fed as well as a seal show and Lucy the elephant was walking down the trail alongside us. Overall I was really impressed with the zoo and... More

What a disappointment ,I expected more from Edmonton , the enclosures for the birds and monkeys are way to small and so boring for the animals ,many of the animals display institutionalized pacing back and forth which is so sad to see and so unnecessary in the year of 2014 --don't bother visiting if you really care about animal welfare... I hadn't been to the Valley Zoo in a couple of years and was "very" impressed with the improvements. Until the upgrade had been done, sadly our little zoo wasn't much to get excited about. We were very pleased with the renovations, it is now a little zoo that we Edmontonian's can be proud of. Our three year old grandson... More

We went to the zoo yesterday on Free Admission Day and other than the traffic to get in, it was a good day. The zoo is laid out in a nice fashion that meanders around to all the different enclosures and buildings. Most of the animals were out and about, it was a cool morning so a few were hiding... More

My first time ever in a zoo as a 22 year old woman. Took my mother here while she was visiting and we all had a great time (minus the 30+ degree heat). I would advise going during the fall as there is not much shade when you get further in. We caught a glimpse of Lucy who was hiding... More

I recently went to the newly renovated valley zoo. It was a very pleasant afternoon! There are many animals to see, but the favourite is Lucy, who often walks around the zoo with her keepers. The staff were pleasant and informative, even on a busy day! The new entrance is attractive, and the sea otters play in their tank, and... More

Nothing really spectacular at this Zoo. Grand daughter wanted to see the Meerkats, a new arrival at the zoo. Other than that I found things somewhat disjointed. Absolutely recommend Calgary Zoo over the Edmonton Zoo.
