If you are the outdoors type, dress for the weather, bring bug spray, sun protection and bring a snack from local food venues... More

Located in the Inglewood area - just east of downtown - west of Deerfoot Trail along the Bow river. The 2013 flood wrecked havoc on the Sanctuary but it hasnow re-opened. A great place to walk solo or bring the family. You will not be disappointed as you will have the opportunity to enjoy many species of birds and perhaps... More

We walked for about an hour and saw a handful of ducks in the water and a dragonfly. I'm sure there are times of the day or times of year when it is better, but it didn't work for us.

What a wonderful escape from the busy streets of Calgary. The park is obviously still recovering from the floods two years ago but it is still a wonderful place to try and see some wildlife as well as the birds. During our walk we had a deer cross the path in front of us!

Really enjoyed seing the birds - the chickadees were very human friendly. Saw multiple kinds of waterfowl including heron and gulls beyond the typical ducks and geese.

This seems a pretty unknown spot, but is only just east of the down town area next to the river. It was badly damaged by the 2013 flood and renovation work has just enabled it to be partially re-opened. Well designed walks, great views and an beautifully quiet atmosphere.
