Escape the City for a couple of hours

On the banks of the Bow River, a short distance from Inglewood and downtown the Bird Sanctuary is a beautiful place to escape the City for a couple of hours and enjoy nature.

Just reopened. Now safe to walk on the open trails and FREE. Great hour long hike for a family. Saw a bald eagle, great horned owl blue herons and other wildlife. Lots of free parking.

Yes, there is still work to be done from the June 2013 flooding, but what a nice surprise to have this quiet, restive trail and sanctuary mere minutes away from downtown. Saw woodpecker and sandpipers. Saw tracks for three different tracks for deer.

Great nature trail. Not only did we see birds, but also a mother deer and her fawn. Only one downside, the mosquitoes are horrendous! Bring lots of Off..........

Inglewood has been closed for 2 years due to the flood in June 2013. It reopened July 30, 2015 not in its entirety but it is open to the public. It is an oasis in the city, we saw at least 8 or 9 different species of birds, and lots of deer. The paths that are open are handicap accessible.... More

The big 2013 flood severely affected this area, so visiting times are limited for now. Nice sanctuary, which seems to be bouncing back. I guess nature does that better than the rest of us.

A friend and I attended a free tour of the bird sanctuary this week. This was a great tour led by Jolene. We saw birds and deer (with triplets even!). The park is still being repaired after the flood damage in 2013. They hope to open next year to the public. However, the fauna is definitely starting to regain it's... More

What is nice is the peacefulness as you wait for the birds to appear. Not so nice are the mosquitos that attack you to the point of having to give up your outing. That's why its called Be with nature

The Inglewood Bird Sanctuary is one of our favorite places to spend a couple of quite hours observing nature. We have visited the Bird Sanctuary over the last 30 years, many of the trips were with our children. As a family we all share the many fond memories of walks along the trails enjoying the many changes the different seasons... More
