This park along the river has been one of our favourites since the mid 70's. An excellent venue for a picnic.

This is a nice park in Calgary and offers a lot of summer and winter activities. That said, it isn't as pretty as some of the city center parks (i.e. Prince's Island) so I'd go there before going here.

Bowness park is another Calgary gem. In the winter you can ice skate on the lagoon in the summer you can rent a canoe and just paddle around. Do not go near this park until the construction has been completed. All the roads around the park is closed except the skating pond also tough to enjoy when parking is very limited.
