Fun park for kids, families, wider or summer

Have been there for skating in winter, birthday parties & picnics in summer. Lots of mature trees & space to play. Parking can be an issue at times.

Bowness Park is still being worked on as the damage the flood caused was extensive. Most of the picnic sites are available, the walking paths good and last but not least the canoes and peddle boats are back. So good to see this wonderful park coming back to life.

I don't like bowness park and I will never go back there, all there is to do is use the pathways and catch little Minos. Lots of wasps.

Having lived in Calgary for over 20 yrs. it took many years for us to venture there one Friday afternoon - playing hooky from work ... it was & still is a GEM that is so well used by those that know, but overlooked by those perhaps in the more Southern or Eastern areas of the city.(poor them...) Bowness was... More

We went here for a fun cycling trip for the children while the grown ups walked around. There is a loop where you start in the parking lot, go towards the first bridge across the river, and then loop back around to the parking lot. We ended up at the playground nearby with loads of climbing structures for children of... More

I revisited this Bowness Park today and found it still very well kept and relaxing. The children's playground provides lots of fun, and the lagoon is very romantic. Flowers are blooming and the BBQ stoves are ready to use. Boating and canoeing are also possible. The only thing to criticize is that the washrooms are still dirty. There's no wifi,... More

Bowness park has several beautiful lagoons that are fed from the nearby Bow river. In the summer the lagoons are used for canoeing, kayaking and other paddle craft. In the winter the lagoons are maintained for skating. The park offers Bow River access, several very nice picnic sites with fire pits along with playgrounds, spray park, mini golf and a... More

Perched on the south bank of the Bow River, it's not many minutes away from downtown Calgary. And the bustle of the city drops away, yielding to the purr of the river. Long, long paths to walk; picnic shelters with barbecue pits, baseball diamonds and open spaces for playing frisbee. Spectacular leaves in Calgary's hour-and-a-half autumn (it's short, but it's... Two paths, one for bikes is a great idea. You can walk or ride a long way, but do not expect quiet and solitude. CV TIP: bring ear plugs if loud traffic bothers you. A water bottle helps and be sure to get an ice dream by the shack at the bridge!
