Great place on a hot day

Love getting by the water, the trees in this park make it much less exposed on a hot day. It is a busy place so need to head to far end to get away from the picnic crowd.

Bowness Park is a neat part to go to!!! When the FLOODS happened in 2014, it took a HUGE chunk out of a lovely park!!! the entire park or most of it HAS to be redone!!! The legendary train has to be restored too and parts had to be ordered!!!! It is open now BUT parts of it are still... More

What a large park...Calgary's wonderful green space. It's lovely for picnics, barbecues and, especially for birthday parties. The walking trails were longer than our legs could carry us and the peace and quiet in the middle of a bustling city was a bonus! Stop by to see the geese, birds and a variety of humans.

The city has done so much work in this park, it became one of our favourite spots for a week end stroll. There is a lagoon for the winter ice skaters, and the concession there with hot drinks + skate rentals should open anytime now (construction was finished when we went a few weeks ago but the city just hadnt... The park was closed after the 2013 flood and has recently reopened. The playgrounds are great and lots of fun. The usual amenities are there. Glad it's open again.

Huge. In the winter they have fire pits on the ice while you skate Summer you can rent canoes, ride the miniature train, play by the river. Nice way to spend a leisurely day.

Bowness park used to be one of my favorite places to hang out. Before the flood happened they were closing it for a season to redo parts of the park that had become overgrown with roots etc. Then the flood happened. It has been closed for over two years now. It opened for ice skating this winter which was a... More

The Bowness Lagoon is back open for skating. We went at night over Christmas the first day it opened. The ice is bumpy are there are cracks to watch out for but it is a great family outing. There are some nat gas fire pits which are nice to look at but there is not much heat off them. The... More
