We went here for a fun cycling trip for the children while the grown ups walked around. There is a loop where you start in the parking lot, go towards the first bridge across the river, and then loop back around to the parking lot. We ended up at the playground nearby with loads of climbing structures for children of... More

I revisited this Bowness Park today and found it still very well kept and relaxing. The children's playground provides lots of fun, and the lagoon is very romantic. Flowers are blooming and the BBQ stoves are ready to use. Boating and canoeing are also possible. The only thing to criticize is that the washrooms are still dirty. There's no wifi,... More

Bowness park has several beautiful lagoons that are fed from the nearby Bow river. In the summer the lagoons are used for canoeing, kayaking and other paddle craft. In the winter the lagoons are maintained for skating. The park offers Bow River access, several very nice picnic sites with fire pits along with playgrounds, spray park, mini golf and a... More

Perched on the south bank of the Bow River, it's not many minutes away from downtown Calgary. And the bustle of the city drops away, yielding to the purr of the river. Long, long paths to walk; picnic shelters with barbecue pits, baseball diamonds and open spaces for playing frisbee. Spectacular leaves in Calgary's hour-and-a-half autumn (it's short, but it's... Two paths, one for bikes is a great idea. You can walk or ride a long way, but do not expect quiet and solitude. CV TIP: bring ear plugs if loud traffic bothers you. A water bottle helps and be sure to get an ice dream by the shack at the bridge!

The 2013 flood really damaged this park. Much of it had to be redone. All of the park except the east end is open to the public. The new cafe next to the lagoon is not yet open. Hopefully soon though as it will be a great spot to hang out. The Lagoon has ducks and geese. The other day... More

Love getting by the water, the trees in this park make it much less exposed on a hot day. It is a busy place so need to head to far end to get away from the picnic crowd.

Bowness Park is a neat part to go to!!! When the FLOODS happened in 2014, it took a HUGE chunk out of a lovely park!!! the entire park or most of it HAS to be redone!!! The legendary train has to be restored too and parts had to be ordered!!!! It is open now BUT parts of it are still... More
