Within walking distance of downtown it is a funky corner of urban energy with great coffee shops, eateries, shopping, outstanding Indie theater, awesome bookstore and a vibe enhanced by bike and river paths close by. A fun place to hang out. It has attitude and attracts an element who are quite content to resist large scale development - young -... More

This place has great coffee shops, bars and restaurant. Much more character then the inner city.. I would like to spend more time in the shops here.

I have shared views about this neighbourhood. It has a collection of independent shops and restaurants that are interesting and worth a visit but the place has so much more potential. Located 15 minutes from downtown by foot, the place could be so much more. A few good developers to turn over some of the old properties and an investment... More

Beautiful little area with lots of unique stores, restaurants and old buildings. You'd never know you were only blocks from the downtown core.

Great area to wander by foot and window shop at some unique stores. No chain stores here, and lots of creatives.

Beautiful area with large selection of entertainment and dining experiences. Beautiful area to stroll during the spring and summer. The residences keep the area clean and beautiful to look at.

I walked here from downtown rather than take the LRT to Sunnyside. All the tour books had hyped it as a place to eat and shop. The taggers’ graffiti and curbside drifts of litter weren’t all that alarming, nor were security bars or boards on shop windows, nor even knots of youth trying to bum smokes and loose change. What... Keep in mind that Calgary is a corporate city. This is supposed to be the bohemian part of town but it does not feel genuine.

One of the few original neighbourhoods left in Calgary. Lot's of cool, unique shops and restaurants. The local coffee shop "Higher Ground" is the hub of the neighbourhood. But you'd better hurry, as the City Council seems determined to destroy the quaintness of the area with high rises.

Too bad this area is more developed. It could be great, but it is just okay with several shops failing and little atmosphere. Enough with the patchouili and crystal shops!
