Fort Calgary was founded in 1875 when the NWMP crossed the Bow River and laid the foundations for Calgary at the place where the Bow meets the Elbow River. Today, Fort Calgary’s interpretive centre allows you to explore the rich heritage of Calgary and the RCMP. The large outdoor park area is a great way to enjoy the river landscape, and offers unique views of downtown Calgary. Fort Calgary offers meeting and event spaces, as well as special events on most holidays. Open from 9 am – 5 pm daily, all year round.

It was fun!

I went for breakfast. It was delicious. Not a huge selection of food, but still good. The museum was very informative.

It was an average attraction because there was little to see especially if you don't like to read the posters on the walls. Actually even if you like to read, it is difficult to relate all the posters together. I advice to wait 1 year or 2 years to visit as they are building a replica of the original Fort.... More

I enjoyed Brunch here earlier in the year with friends so was excited to share the experience with my Dad who was visiting from Australia. The buffet brunch includes items you can order fresh from the kitchen and an omelette and egg station. The food is delicious and includes a number of items not generally found in brunch buffets. After... More

When I first saw Fort Calgary, I was a little bit underwhelmed to be honest, but after a 45 mnute visit, I had changed my opinion - it was really interesting! It is a small, unremarkable building on huge empty grassy grounds - as I said underwhelming - but once you get up close and start to read the displays,... More

Close to the downtown with free parking, this museum is packed with great info and displays. Lots of history not only about the fort but also about Calgary itself.

Fort Calgary is an interesting spot at the confluence of the Elbow & Bow rivers downtown surrounded by pathways and parkland. They often use the area for outdoor concerts and events in the summer. It's a nice building, lots of interesting artifacts to check out and friendly staff to help guide your visit. A short walk from downtown along the... More

Very well done. If you want to know a lute history of Calgary it is worth a visit. If you go around back to see more you have to go across the river. They forgot to tell us that.

Absolutely loved this place. Really liked the boomtown segment though I wish it was a bit longer. The theater area was closed for renovations during my visit so it may have given me the extra little bit to make it feel not as short. The early history segment gave a good prelude leading into the boomtown area.

This gives a good insight into both the history of Calgary and the Mounties. It's informative and well laid out at a modest cost. The staff are very friendly, chatty and welcoming.
