Fort Calgary was founded in 1875 when the NWMP crossed the Bow River and laid the foundations for Calgary at the place where the Bow meets the Elbow River. Today, Fort Calgary’s interpretive centre allows you to explore the rich heritage of Calgary and the RCMP. The large outdoor park area is a great way to enjoy the river landscape, and offers unique views of downtown Calgary. Fort Calgary offers meeting and event spaces, as well as special events on most holidays. Open from 9 am – 5 pm daily, all year round.

Fort Calgary is an interesting spot at the confluence of the Elbow & Bow rivers downtown surrounded by pathways and parkland. They often use the area for outdoor concerts and events in the summer. It's a nice building, lots of interesting artifacts to check out and friendly staff to help guide your visit. A short walk from downtown along the... More

Very well done. If you want to know a lute history of Calgary it is worth a visit. If you go around back to see more you have to go across the river. They forgot to tell us that.

Absolutely loved this place. Really liked the boomtown segment though I wish it was a bit longer. The theater area was closed for renovations during my visit so it may have given me the extra little bit to make it feel not as short. The early history segment gave a good prelude leading into the boomtown area.

This gives a good insight into both the history of Calgary and the Mounties. It's informative and well laid out at a modest cost. The staff are very friendly, chatty and welcoming.

cycling alongside bow river on your way to Inglewood takes you alongside Fort Calgary: the birthplace of Calgary. Nice area and an interesting exhibition (some parts even outside!). Have a look at the scarecrow in the garden.

We've been here for Canada Day (musical and educational), brunch (yummy) and for Family Day (loved the cabane a sucre!). The only issue I had was at the brunch where they used latex gloves to put ingredients in the omelets, so I had to miss out on them, in case there was any latex dust contaminating all of the bowls... Cute museum about the early history and founding of the city. Like all Canadian Museums they feature items about women in the area.

This was a nice surprise. The exhibits were very good and the information provided in an informative and interesting way. Loved the displays of homes, shops and businesses. Very happy that we took the time to explore.

Fun for the entire family to walk around and see the artifacts and a movie which will show in the theater. A little store as you leave has interesting items and at a fair price.
