The Bow Falls are only about 15 minute walk along the river from the centre of town and are quite a sight. The walk itself is very good indeed and you can easily get the local bus back if need be. Initially the river is calm, though fast flowing, then it bursts over the falls at a very brisk rate.... More

Easy drive with a big parking area. The falls and mountain scenery are gorgeous! Well worth the stop. You can still see everything without hiking up the path if you choose.

There are many places to join the Bow Falls Trail. We started at the bridge from downtown, which is about 1.5 km to the falls. It was about a 30 min leisurely walk. It's more a series of rapids than one big fall (don't expect to see something like Niagara), but nevertheless, it is a very enjoyable walk. Caution: There... More

Although as someone said, they are more of a cascade than a 'falls' but the 'falls' were very picaresque. You can view the falls from either side of it. The northern side has higher view points and looks down onto the falls and has less tourists. Although most people park at the car park up there, we walked from Banff... More

Bow Falls loosely describes these falls. It is more of a cascade than a falls. Take mosquito repellant. If you don't, they will carry you back!

While you can drive up to the falls, it's much more exciting if you take this little hike that not many people know about. Drive to the Fairmont Banff springs hotel, park at the parking lot (about $2) walk into the hotel and ask someone how do you hike DOWN to Bow falls. It has wooden steps all the way... More

Lovely walk by the river and the falls. My holiday tip would be not to forget the fly repellent as several of our group got bitten on this walk.

We stopped at the Grand Hotel and wandered out back of the hotel to the pool area and had an ice cream at a small ice cream shack near the pool. Then we wandered down the hill to a short trail to the falls. Falls were a pleasant surprise as we were not really looking for them. The falls is... More

This was a very nice, in town walk. The path along the Bow river leads to a series of falls, not very high, but very broad. The end of the trail and best views are reached by a well paved path and sets of stairs. We really enjoyed the walk and a good free activity in a very expensive town.
