We were looking for a relaxing trip out in the Banff area but didn't fancy actual horseback riding. Holiday on Horseback provided an ideal compromise - an hours trip in a covered wagon from the Warner Stables, up the mountainside to a covered area where an absolutely delicious steak meal was cooked and served before we set off back in... My friend and I booked the 2 day Sundance Lodge overnight trip, what an adventure it was, we had the most amazing time! Horses were great, so were our guides. We took off on a Saturday morning and after about 2.5 hours stopped along the Bow River for a couple of hours while our guides cooked up the best lunch... More

Me and 3 friends did the Sulphur Mountain Ride for 3 hours yesterday at 2 pm. The 2 girls that lead the tour were so full of attitude, rude and impatient. They barely spoke, unless it was to yell at people to keep up. Some of us are first time riders and instead of being helpful they looked more annoyed.... More

My 80 year old father had one wish on his bucket list before too late, that being a back country ride through the Rockies! He did it! With the help of our awesome guides Courtney & Emma! The lodge was very comfortable and home cooked food great! Our horses were fantastic. I would recommend the 3 day for those with... More

It was great to ride a horse through the forests and the river! We did a one-hour-tour which we thought would be a bit short, but it turned out to be more than satisfactory! We both had never ridden a horse before but that wasn't a problem because the horses were responding well and they did everything on walking pace,... More

We opted for the 3-hour Bow Valley Loop. The horses were great, guides were very nice and gave us a good narrative. The downside was the fact that 99% of the ride was through woods while I'd prefer some valleys with panoramic views. The mosquitos were vicious - spray yourself with deep woods mosquito spray and do not miss a... More

We booked a 2 hour ride. I was impressed with the nicely cared for and well trained animals especially for such a touristy operation. Horses responded rather well to leg and rein, unusual for a dude-ranch. The ride itself is very easy and therefore good for beginners or anyone afraid of horses, but more experienced riders may be bored. Guides... More

My partner and I took the Explorer Day Ride on July 10, 2014 with Kate as our guide. Our group was small for the 8 hour ride which made the Cowboy lunch that much more enjoyable. We not only thoroughly enjoyed the spectacular beauty of the back country of Banff but enjoyed the hour lunch getting to know our group... More

This is a real commercial operation. I dont think they make any claims otherwise ... but I found the rush-rush herding of people and horses in and out of the corral to be extremely distasteful. - There's ZERO personal touch; beyond that ... once you sign and pay, no one cares to tell you what to expect or when to... We had a lot of fun on this ride. My daughter picked this ride because you get to ride the horses across the river (twice). We took the last ride of the day at 5:00 because you get an extended ride taking the horses back to the stables in another part of town. The ride ends up being about 1.5... More
