Arriving in Vancouver 4 days before departure and experiencing continuous unseasonably cold and wet weather, I was exceedingly apprehensive about the Rocky Mountaineer trip, as good weather plays a major part in one’s enjoyment – and value for money - of what is an expensive 2 days. I need not have worried. Our long, long train with 1,700 passengers (some... more

We travelled from Vancouver to Jasper via Kamloops in June 2007. We chose the gold leaf service. We had a great time. Train in good repair. Spacious comfortable seats in the dome car and nice restaurant car underneath. The main attraction is of course the scenery, and that's pretty spectacular although there are a few dull bits at the beginning... more

My husband and I travelled on the Rocky Mountaineer from Jasper to Vancouver in October 2007. We chose the Gold Leaf Service. The train was comfortable, the service good, food of a high quality. It is not a trip to view wildlife, we saw some eagles, a passing glimpse of a black bear and some goats. The big problem for... more

I went on the Rocky Mountaineer's winter train on December 20th, the journey got came with an eventful start with a slide on the Fraser Canyon which meant twice the usual rail traffic would be trying to get through the single line left open. What was scheduled to be a short day (8 hours) turned into 12 hours, much of... more

We were really looking forward to our trip on the Rocky Mountaineer. Having paid £495 each extra to travel Goldleaf we were very disappointed in the overnight accommodation in Quesnel at the Sandford Hotel. Our evening meal was included but we had to eat in the sports bar which was crowded with eight or nine televisions working and the meal... more

We made our reservation to travel Gold Leaf from Jasper to Vancouver a year in advance of our two day journey in mid-Sept 2007. At nearly £800 each it was to be the main event of our holiday in Canada. In the event we were hugely disappointed by the quality of food, the seating and organisation of the journey. Embarkation... more

I think the good reviews are written by the company themselves. We were on the Rocky mountaineer from Vancouver to Banff this summer . We splurged on Gold Leaf and were disappointed by the train(much too slow!), by the food(looked good, tasteless), by the hotels (which did not give the promised accomodations). When we wrote a letter to the company... more

My family and I (Kathy my wife, Louie 16, Alex 15 on day two of the trip and Issy 12) took the Rocky Mountaineer from Banff to Vancouver in August 07. The attendant was really helpful and couldnt do enough for us. It was my daughters birthday on the second day and the crew gave her a gold 'order of... more

We enjoyed the 2 day trip from Calgary to Vancouver in (Sept 2 and 3, 2007). The reception at the Calgary Tower, the hospitality, the information given in the train is very good, no complaints there. Though, we travelled Redlead and found the train itself very old en small. The trip itself took very very long and I was sorry... more

My wife and I travelled from Jasper to Vancouver on the Rocky Mountaineer, Gold Leaf service. We enjoyed the trip very much but, value for money - no! If this is what you really want to do, you have no choice but to pay the high prices, but it is very expensive for what it is. Watch out for the... more
