We visited Banff in August and took the local bus to the Gondola base for the modest sum of 1CD each as Seniors ( normal price 2CD. I think the secret is to pick a day with good visibility. Its a bit scary at first, but when you reach the top, it is really beautiful. No words can express the feeling when you're on top of the mountain. more
27$ each is extremely expensive for a 4-min gondola ride... Landscape on top is nice, but really isn't different from what you'll see from the top of Lake Louise or Sunshine ski resorts. If you are going to ski the rockies, the gondola ride is not worth it. more

I went to Sulphur Mountain Gondola on 14 June 2005, 4pm+ in the afternoon. I took the bus service number 3 from Banff Ave. It is very convenient. The gondola is very safe and comfortable. My husband hiked up the mountain, but I took the gondola (too tired from the previous day's hike up to the inkpots at Johnson Canyon!).
