We enjoyed walking out onto the glacier but felt the attraction is overrated. A very rude bus driver spun his wheels when exiting the drop-off area, stirring up a large cloud of dust which left us all choking and gagging. This spoiled the experience for us. It was very cold, even 'tho the day was mild. Frankly, the Mendenhall Glacier... More

This is definitely a must visit if you are in Banff or Jasper. How often do you get to walk on an active glacier? It is fascinating to see the past history of the glacier and how it has receeded over the years. Be ready for anything weatherwise though, because even on a sunny day, the wind can be pretty... This isquite expensive but certainly worth a look - the booking system is a bit manic now as they have included the glass floor lookout going from the same building

Our group took the company Shuttle bus up to the Transfer Station. From there we boarded the "Tractor Bus" and made our way down onto the ice. There were two quite steep descents before we climbed slowly up the hill to the Glacier. Our host and driver was from Newcastle (NSW) and she provided excellent commentary -- with a good... More

Lovely to walk on the Glacier but needed to waterproof gloves to get some glacier water into the bottle as suggested. It was understandably freezing! Tasted great though.

We took the Rocky Mountaineer train tour from Vancouver to Jasper then rented a car in Jasper and drove to Banff. First off the train tour was amazing it stopped in Kamloops over night to sleep which was included. The view is amazing, the food was great - the service unbelievable. We stayed two nights in Jasper and toured went... More

There is a lot of queueing at busy times, but it's one of those experiences you have to do. Once you have purchased your tickets from the sales desk, you go to another part of the Discovery Centre at your designated time, join another queue then a coach takes you the short distance to where the snow coaches take you... Beautiful drive from Lake Louise. The. Icefield was pretty cool... Go see it if you have chance. Wish we could have stayed in the Jasper NP longer and done some hiking though. We stayed in Lake. Louise for a week and we still didn't do everything we wanted to.
