This is a special opportunity to get up close! Whilst the simple thought of a colossal machine such as "the Ice Explorer" on a glacier is virtually environmental vandalism in itself, at least conservation is at least considered by having a staging point where land based mass transport meets the ice based mass transport! And there is no mention of... More

I drove to the Icefield from Banff and it took me 2.5 hrs to travel, discounting the time stopped on the way. You can either take a bus tour or drive by your own from Banff. As I have family with kids, I decided to drive there. Lots of lakes and excellent views when you travel along the Rockies along... More

Relative to the cost of the trip out to the glacier, we found the experience underwhelming. We do live in an area of significant winter weather, so perhaps that is reason.

This is an awesome experience and right in our country , in our backyard, so to speak- One does not have to go to Alaska to experience or see a glacier! Even there, (when one goes on a cruise) one cannot walk on a glacier! but here one can! Wow it was just awe-Inspiring Exhilarating amazing experience ever-Worth every penny... More

We went on this tour with our 8 year old grandson, and all 3 of us LOVED it! When do you ever get the chance to stand on a huge icefield like that?! We wanted our grandson to experience this before all the glaciers/ icefields melt. It was a one of a kind experience, well worth the money it cost.

When we got back from our vacation we took a survey within our family of what our favorite thing we did was. Hands down, each member of our family said that going out onto the glacier in Banff was by far tops. It was so hard to believe we were standing on an actual glacier and were able to drink... More

Riding in the Icefields explorer to the glacier is quite amazing and then you get there! The view of the glacier is fantastic. The Ice is amazingly thick and you feel quite secure. The vehicle drivers are well versed in the information about the Athabasca Glacier and the local area. Just walking on the glacier is surreal. Highly recommended.

The approach to the glacier is in a special vehicle known as The Ice Warrior and resembles something out of 'Star Wars'. Standing on the glacier with the surface ice melting all around is a spellbinding experience as one is standing on a moving mountain of ice as thick as what the Eifel Tower is tall. We were told that... More

This glacier is not going to last too long. Get there before it is gone (in 50-100 years?). Since I cannot afford to get to Alaska or Chile, this is a great alternative of seeing Glacier. I really liked the experience.

My friends and I had so much fun at the Icefield. It's such an awesome experience to stand and touch and have fun at the Icefield. From riding the icefield explorer to getting off at the Athabasca Glacier is so much fun. I just wish we have an option to stay longer and take the next icefield truck explorer. Definitely... More
