Our visit to the Columbia Ice Fields, the Athabasca Glacier, and Athabasca Falls rank up there with our visits to Machu Picchu and Angkor Wat. The scenery is spectacular and majestic and being on the glacier is truly spiritual. Do not miss this area in you are visiting the British Columbia, Alberta region.

We did this as a last minute decision. We came from Toronto with no winter clothes but thought "ah how cold can it be?" COLD. It was windy, damp and just plain cold. I had a jacket, my husband had to purchase a sweater from the gift shop. The cold was not going to stop us from going on this... More

Do not let the price distract you from doing it - AAA/CAA has a 25% discount. This is a really rare opportunity to get on a glacier, and with the earth getting warmer every year, it could disappear in the next 100 years. Do this while you can. The drivers were friendly and informative, and they enjoyed their jobs. We... More

The tour was very informative and we enjoyed going up onto the glacier. We were especially impressed with our enthusiastic guide Sidney and all of her knowledge on the area. The bus and glaciers are very impressive, but there is not much to do up on top and it was a little bit anticlimactic once arriving after all of the... More

WOW, WOW, WOW!! Being an Australian has it's bonus' but it also means we miss out on a few wow factors such as massive and impressive spectacular Glaciers. So this was an honest high point choosing the tour I chose 'Glaciers of the West' and it certainly didn't disappoint! Approaching the Ice-field, we could see some glaciers on the various... More

Quite amazing to ride in a big bus on a glacier and then even get to walk on the glacier. We had a beautiful sunny day so we were able to enjoy the view of the mountains around us. The driver of the bus was knowledgeable and entertaining.

When we bought our ticket at the Banff Gondola for this we were encouraged to book a time slot and were glad we did. There were big queues but we skipped past and enjoyed this little detour on the glacier. The driver shared some information on the glacier and the walk around was something a bit different. Have been on... More

There are not that many places in the world where an average person can walk on a glacier. The Athabatha Glacier on the Columbia Icefield is one of these rare places. Thus, when you can do so, you must. This was our second venture here, the first being in 1977. Things have changed a lot. In 1977, the glacier was... More
