If you are coming in from BC or Kamloops then bear in mind that the time moves ahead by 1 hour when you cross to Alberta, so if your ticket for the icefield is at 5pm, then you need to leave accordingly, as its still only 4pm in BC. Its a beautiful feel on the icefield and one has to... More

Must do excursion on the Icefields Parkway. Would definitely recommend getting there before 11am if not sooner as it gets packed quickly. Riding up on the glacier is a unique experience. The only drawback is that you only get 15 minutes on the glacier and it goes by FAST! Be sure to bring a bottle to fill up with glacier... More

First, this is not a review of the Columbia Icefield tour. I´ve actually take that tour and was truly disappointed. The Icefield tour and the glacier skywalk all depart or are located at The Crossing Resort which is at the intersection of Hwy 93 and Hwy 11 just 80 Km from Lake Louise. I stopped there yesterday on my way... More

This is a great attraction, but a successful trip requires some planning. First of all, this is halfway between Banff and Japer- about an hour and a half from Jasper. We've been there twice now and it's been crazy busy both times. My strong recommendation is to buy your tickets ahead of time online. This will allow you to go... More

We booked a package in banff including this , the skywalk and the banff gondola which was good value . We must have timed it just right as we arrived at 1045 and managed to get on the 1100 trip . Others not so lucky in previous reviews . Even so was still a 3 hour chunk of the day... More

This was amazing. You are driven out on a huge glacier and get to walk on it. The ice has a light blue tinge to it. Dress warm. Then go to the sky walk were u are up 300 meters.

After booking this visit last year and beingtold repeatedly that bookings are not necessary , today we arrive at 10:00am and check in, only to be told the earliest possible trip we could join was 3:00pm. All of the advertising material we have seen including posters at the center all make mention of tours departing every 15 to 30 minutes,... More

Unfortunately, there is only one way you can walk on the glacier and that is through a tour. Endless line, long wait for tickets (buy the package with the skywalk) slightly dulled the "cool" factor of walking on a glacier. If you have a large chunk of time, then do this. Otherwise skip it. A bit depressing as the snow... More

This was a fantastic tour, taking us on the Ice Explorer, a 6 wheel drive bus, right on to the Athabasca glacier, one of 6 glaciers fed by the Columbia Icefield. It was an in credible ride just to get there, as the 'bus' had to traverse an incline of over 30 degrees, one of the steepest roads in North... More

We bought a package deal upon our arrival in Banff that included the Banff gondola ride, the glacier tour and the skywalk. Having this ticket does not get you a specific tour time for the glacier tour--you can only get that when you arrive at the glacier tour center. We arrived around 11:30 am as it's about a 2 hour...
