We missed the last bus up the glacier but were told we could walk up to a certain point. Wow!!! So glad we did the walk instead of the bus. I was slightly terrified at the fact we were walking on a glacier that's constantly moving and changing but it's a thrilling experience. The view alone from the visitor centre... More

Although I am much more of a fan of peaceful hikes in solitude, there are just some places that the average tourist can't readily visit without succumbing to the touristy "adventures" like this. Whether or not to do the Columbia Icefield Glacier Adventure was a difficult decision for our large family, considering the fairly significant cost for a brief visit... More

This company should be ashamed of themselves charging so much money for people to be taken on to the glacier.. For around $60 all I got was a bus ride with a clueless guide on to a large area of snow literally just above a public car park. The experience would have been so much greater had I walked to... This was an amazing experience, the glaciers are just spectacular and being Aussies (from Qld) we don't get to see stuff like that. It was a little expensive but of all the things we saw in Canada it's probably the one that will stand out.

The weather was not the kindest to us today to travel out to the glacier, however it was clear enough to get out and have a (quick - cold) walk around the ice. Our driver/guide Reico, was very competent and informative on our journey. The whole experience from the ticket box through to the bus trip out to the specially... More

An amazing must do!! With the cost of the bus to the actual top of the glacier we decided to walk to it instead and we were so glad we did! The walk shows you how far the glacier has retreated, which left us in awe that it has melted so fast. We were able to by walking there see... More

Since there is only one road leading to Columbia Icefield Glacier the police set up speed traps to catch the tourists and give out a LOT of tickets. We saw several police cruisers sitting at turnouts along the road and they actually had radar guns on tripods sitting beside the cruiser. The road is very hilly so it is very... More

We enjoyed walking out onto the glacier but felt the attraction is overrated. A very rude bus driver spun his wheels when exiting the drop-off area, stirring up a large cloud of dust which left us all choking and gagging. This spoiled the experience for us. It was very cold, even 'tho the day was mild. Frankly, the Mendenhall Glacier... More

This is definitely a must visit if you are in Banff or Jasper. How often do you get to walk on an active glacier? It is fascinating to see the past history of the glacier and how it has receeded over the years. Be ready for anything weatherwise though, because even on a sunny day, the wind can be pretty... This isquite expensive but certainly worth a look - the booking system is a bit manic now as they have included the glass floor lookout going from the same building
