One of the highlights of our recent trip. Plenty to see from the disembarkation point/visitor's center at the top of the gondola, but the hike along the boardwalk to the cosmic ray station (no kidding) is beautiful with even more fabulous views. Weather changes in an instant ... take a jacket. You'll notice the altitude as you climb the steps... More

The ride was gentle and easy and I'm not normally a big fan of being that far off the ground. We went in the morning, mid week so the small line moved quickly. Absolutely gorgeous views on top. We like to hike and it was a nice day so we decided to walk down. That took us almost 2 hours... More

We took the gondola ride in the late afternoon and we were very lucky with the weather. It was sunny with some clouds so the views from the top were lovely. Although it was busy it was not overcrowded and we had no trouble making the short hike up to the observation center.

Banff gondola brings you to the top of Sulfur Mountain. From there you have a wonderfull view of Banff, the Fairmont Banff Spring hotel and the golf course. It is best to go at the beggining or at the end of the day to get more beautifull pictures. It is expensive but it is worth it.

Fortunately, we had FABULOUS weather so the views were incredible. Well worth the trip up. Was a smooth ride - not scarey at all. Just sit back and take it all in. And once you get to the top, you can walk all the way around and view the mountain vistas from every vantage point. Soooooo glad we did it.

If you want a superb view of the town of Banff and surroundings, take the Gondola to the top and look around. Make sure you pick a clear day, it is often overcast or rainy in the mountains, which definitely changes the view. Be prepared for crowds. They arrive in busloads, especially in the warmer months. Dress warmly; we were... More

We went on the Gondola for the first time in July 2011 despite having been to Banff numerous times before. A bit pricey, but the view is so worth it! I would suggest getting there as they open - no parking problems then and no lineup, plus no crowds at the top to fight to see the view. There is... More

We did an early morning trip up Sulphur mountain (one of the perksof staying at the Rimrock hotel next door), and it was a fabulous trip. We were probably one of the first dozen there and that meant we could wander to the Gondola entrance and literally bag a car to ourselves straight off. (On our return there were long... More

The Banff gondola is a really good trip to see the views of Banff. Especially as you can walk from the gondola base across to the old weather station - which is really worthwhile. However we did visit on a really busy Sunday & it wasn't made clear how the waiting system worked - so we stood in a big... More
