The Gondola ride offers a beautiful view of the Banff city. The mountains and terrain on the top are very picturesque.

Just returned from Canada on August 28, 2014. There are 350 steps from the top of the Gondola to the Cosmic Ray station. Kids to seniors can make this comfortable height. Temps and wind were kind, and the meal at the restaurant was more than adequate. Highly recommend the investment in the Gondola ride.

A covered gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain gives a great lookout over the township and surrounding areas. Didn't have to wait long but we didn't go on a weekend. At the top there is a great walk over boards to an old station building, worth the effort for the photo ops. Staff were really friendly. If you... More

The Banff gondola was a ripoff. As we rode up, we discovered there is a trail one can hike to get to the same spot. It may be worth the money to take the gondola if you have small children or otherwise immobile people in your group, but the gondola car was stifling, the lines long, and the employees rude.... More

Be prepared to spend some time in line. However, it is worth the wait. I was impressed with the gondola equipment. This was some first class stuff. I noticed is was made in Switzerland. The ride up and down was smooth as silk, and the top was crowded, too. Fun experience.

We rode to the top of Sulphur Mountain on the gondola on August 16, 2014. It was an absolute beautiful experience. The deck on the main level where the extremely long and slow line to return was packed. However, if you want to get a 360 view of Banff and surrounding area, you need to take the spiral stairs up... Everyone we met said we should go to Banff for the Gonola. We should have know from the number of cars and tour buses in the parking lot that we should have passed on it but since the wait to go up was only 4 minutes we thought we would give it a go. Well all the crowds were at... More

great experience. You see all the mountain ranges right on top of Mount Sulphur. We stayed up there for about half hour. The view were great and you can see Banff from on top. Big tourist shop and plenty to eat.

We really enjoyed this attraction. At least I did. My husband doesn't like heights. The parking was easy at the time of day we went - mid morning. The gondola holds four so we shared with a couple from another part of Canada. The views from up top were wonderful. The day was clear and cool. We did not walk... More

It is possible to take a short ride on a local bus from Banff to the Gondola. We think that this is the best way of getting there as then you are not time limited as happens with organised tours. The whole experience far exceeded expectations. On reaching the summit you are met with a spectacular 360 degree view. At... More
