Unless you plan to mountain climb this is a great way to get to the top of the mountains. And I really do mean the top. Plus you do not just have a lookout. You can walk some ways along the ridge safely and securely. It is accessible for all.

Have been up a few times and always enjoy it. My boyfriend and I went up on Sat. and it was great as hardly anyone was there. We were the first to walk all the way to top to the look out house. It was crisp out but not to cold and the walk was great. the staff are always... More

Its quite pricey.... 30$ for a return trip plus if you want to eat at the top and the bus fare to get there ... but the view is AMAZING. Myself I prefer to hike the mountain but if youre only in town for a few days or you dont have the ability to hike it then its worth the... More

the trip up is a steep one but once you get up the top the views are spectacular a 360 view of the mountains and Banff, you can also go higher across bridge decking to the old weather station and with information boards al around , you can also walk up how long this takes ? but either way an... Hi Squeak, Thank you for reviewing the Banff Gondola. I was pleased to read that you enjoyed the spectacular views while at the summit of Sulphur Mountain. The boardwalk across to Sanson's Peak is an interpretive walkway made up of a series of wooden platforms and steps (368 steps in total). Average travel time is about 20 minutes one-way. I... More

My husband and I recently visited Banff, and I'd never been on the top of a mountain before (I've never been skiing or snowboarding- one, because I'm from the East Coast and two, I hate heights...I'm working on it...). Everyone comments about prices being too expensive, but it costs money to run a business, operation, staff, maintenance etc... So, it... More

This is just a spectacular view and some great history. The old weather station at the top is interesting, but the fact that a guy climbed that every 2 weeks for 30 plus years is mind boggling. Well worth the gondola ride up to see!

On the last day of my trip in Banff we divided to ascend Sulphur mountain in the gondola. The weather wasn't great, but we took the risk. When we first reached the top it was snowing a little, but visibility wasn't too bad. We took some pictures and then had some soup and a drink, during which time the cloud... More

Not our first visit, but the years. The view remains spectacular, opening up the Bow Valley to the North and East. A great perspective on the village of Banff nestled in the valley below. The top of the mountain considerably more developed, with easy to navigate wooden walkways and stairs. I particularly enjoyed the new-ish plaques and sign boards illustrating... More
