A definite must do activity when in Banff. An alternative for the adventurous is to hike to the top of Sulpher mountain (90mins) and take the gondola back down. Ensure you leave at least an hour at the top to check out the trail to th peak.

I was a little reluctant to go on the gondola ,as I don't like heights ,but decided to give it a go and am I glad I did .The trip up itself was amazing ,but when you got to the top it was jaw dropping, even emotional ,with 360% views all round ,mountains as far as the eye could see,You can... More

My wife is very much afraid of heights so she will have a different perspective of the gondola ride but once we got to the top we both agree on the rest. The views are stunning & amazing. We enjoyed the walk around the top and spent a couple hours soaking it all in. It was worth the price but... More

You can have beautiful views of the city and valley. Must visit weather station if you can. Do not forget to take proper woollens as it can be very cold there.

On a sunny day, such as I enjoyed, the views are breathtaking and well worth the cost. Go early as it gets busy very quickly. Most people walk the wooden decking to the higher observation deck. I did that but also went about 500m down the hiking trail that goes for many kms. I'm glad I did as I encountered... More

Breathtaking view from top of the Silver Mountain is extraordinary. Go the high peak, and look at the Banff National Park, and realize that you are at the top of natural treasures of Canada.

Climbed up and took in the scenery - trail is suitable for more experienced walkers. Rode the Gondola down. Café was good value for snack and refreshment - fast service.

40 bucks seemed like a lot for a short ride until we got off at the top of the mountain. Thousands of fee below us we could see the entire town of Banff. All around us snow covered mountain peaks and at our feet, totally habituated to humans, a type of squirrel native to the high country. Don't feed them,... More

Located a 10 minute drive from Banff, the price is a little steep, but so is the mountain to walk up, which is possible on the walking tracks. The entry cost is well worth the gondola ride, in addition to the breathtaking views of snow capped mountains, once at the top. Walk the board walk to the mountain top retreat,... More

We went up on a clear day and the views were spectacular. There was an easy boardwalk to the next peak which was higher and to the old cosmic ray detection hut. Cannot praise this enough -another must do trip in Banff
