An extremely popular (and sometimes busy) mountain hike. Sulphur Mountain is virtually situated on the border of Banff, and so it is incredibly accessible. It also has a gondola to the top. The hike takes about 2 hours, and isn't too strenuous. It is beautiful the entire way up, and the views from the top are breathtaking. I've done this... More

So glad we made this part of our trip, this is THE best view of the mountains. Yes it is a tourist trap but that's because it is amazing. We took the gondola up when it was cloudy and it was amazing coming out the other side of the clouds on top of the mountain. Make sure you take the... More

Wow you cannot go to Banff without doing the gondola. We booked a deal with brewsters. Didn't need to book a time. Was busy and only had to wait 20 mins for our slot. We went up at about 2.30pm. By the time we left at 5pm it was getting hazy and view wasn't so good. We ate at restaurant... More

The hike up really isn't too bad, only takes about 1 hour 30 mins if you walk briskly. Beautiful views at the top. Arrive at the top after 6:30 and you get a free ride back down on the gondola, just be careful of the 30 minute long line

We have made the gondola ride up many times as we always bring visitors to our home in Calgary to Banff and we are always amazed at the cost - especially when it's a family! However, it's a must do if you are visiting Banff! The line up was long - first to buy the ticket and then the line... More

This place is beautiful. BUT the gondola ride is a RIP OFF run by BREWSTER. The guy at the window selling us our tickets said that BREWSTER is making a killing and doing VERY WELL! Well if BREWSTER is doing so well, why don't they renovate the run down building at the top as it is from the late 60's... More

The trail is a 6.8 mile roundtrip with a 2150 foot elevation gain, which works out to an average grade of 12%. The trail itself is wide, well maintained, with few rocks and roots. It consists of a series of switchbacks under the gondola. No need for hiking boots - running shoes will do fine. No water or toilet facilities... More

ok, its a trip up a mountain by cable car, and not cheap - $40 (£20) there is a walk way at the top, takes about 20 mins walking. Refreshments available. Good views of Banff.

This is not an easy trail. It's uphill the entire time and some of the switchbacks are steep. Most people should be ok doing it. This was our first trail on our trip and it was a memorable one. The views were tremendous and that's all you really need to know. Everyone should hike this one.

I hiked up with a friend. Not really too hard, most switchbacks with a few steep areas. Great exercise and then you can have some snacks at the top, and take the gondola down!
