We took under 1 and 1/2 hours to hike to the top, pretty strenuous and uphill most of the way with switchbacks, bit icy at the top but it was well worth it. Beautiful views of Banff National park. Legs felt like jelly all the way down but had a nice soak in the hot springs to recover. Brilliant hike!

I visited on June 30 with cousins who live in Calgary and wanted to show me Banff NP. We did not have time for a hike, so we took the gondola up. Gondola cost is 39.95 $CAD return. The ride up provided great views of the town of Banff. I also saw several pairs of shoes on top of pine... More

Lovely walkfrom gondola to the observation tower that used to be a scientific station. Well laid out with lots of viewpoints. Trail up mountain well developed if really steep in places. Fantastic views!

Getting to the top of Sulphur Mountain is something you have to do to really appreciate The Canadian Rockies. These mountains tower all around you at Banff, but to really appreciate their size and magnitude you need to take the Gondola to the top of the mountain. Yes it is crowded. Yes there are unruly children, and rude tourist. Yes... More

We decided to hike up and glad we did since the view at the top was super rewarding after huffing and puffing up the trail. The trailhead is located at the parking lot for the Banff Hot Springs. This moderate trail is a steady set of switchbacks with a few steep parts. We are novice hikers of average fitness and... More

Took gondola to sulphur mountain in month of June. 1 kilometre scenic and easy walk to sulphur mountain is a must to do activity. Wherever ever your eyes go, you will be confused. Am I looking at a poster or is it real nature? Sit on the edge and you can spend hours and hours indulging in nature' beauty.

The gondola up Sulphur Mountain must be magnificent in good weather conditions. However, we went up when it was cloudy and raining, and it was really pointless. At the top, we were just in the clouds, unable to see anything! We ended up coming down after about 10 minutes! The gondola is also expensive (about $75 for 2). The hot... More

We took the hike instead of the gondola up to the top and it was awesome. It's more rewarding when you work for it! The hike is steep, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We really enjoyed it, and the views from the top were a great reward. It was windy at the top, so... More

We took the gondola up to the top of the mountain to enjoy the beautiful views of Banff townsite and the surrounding mountains. Words cannot do the view justice. We booked ahead online and had no problems. Half the party stayed near the building (with cafeteria and gift shop) while the others hiked out along the paved trail. Beware that... More

Did the trip up the mountain in the gondola, and while the scenery at the top was stunning, the crowds were not. The Gondola trip was excellent. We chose to walk down the mountain, which is almost 6 ks, but was well worth it.
