Beginning with a wonderful 10 minute gondola ride from the base station, the panorama from the top of Sulphur Mountain is spectacular. We were fortunate to visit early in the morning when the mountain was clear of clouds and the crowds hadn't arrived yet. The views go on forever and are truly amazing. At the peak, which is accessible by... More

If you haven't been on a Gondola, you will love the trip to the top and when you get there there will be awesome views so don't forget your camera. If no crowds, you could be up and back in less than 2 hours. Go early to avoid crowds.

My husband and I rode the Gondola up the mountain and they also allow dogs. So we took our Newfoundland Dog along. He did great on the ride up and down and helped keep me calmer in the Gondola.

A definite must-do when visiting Banff. The area surrounding the city is beautiful, and seeing it from up above is truly spectacular.

We hiked up the mountain which was a little bit exhausting but worth it. The views during the hike are stunning. And when you arrive on top you are so proud of yourself! I can only recommend to walk up the mountain and then take the gondola down!

You can get to the top by gondola ride, or you can hike up. A previous reviewer here said the elevation gain of the hike is 2400 meters. I think they meant 2400 feet. Just Google "sulphur mountain hike" and you'll get the Town of Banff website with the info about the hike. The summit/peak itself is about 2200 meters... More

OMG - the gondola ride up & down is beautiful, but once you get to the top the view is breath taking -words cannot describe. You must take the stairs to the lookout point and the observations point - absolute fantastic. FYI you can walk up and down if you got 1.5 hrs. If you can go after 6pm you... More

Great views and a good ride with fast moving gondola and efficient ticket sales. Dress appropriately as it is very windy at the top. More than 2,400 meters elevation change is not a joke. For the avid hiker, the trail up to the top is well maintained, therefore recommended to hike up by foot and take the gondola ride down.... More

Watch the weather and if it is a reasonably clear day then head on up. Wonderful thing about the mountains is the views are always changing (shadows, snow, etc). We did this as part of Brewster's package but would be worth doing alone. The pathways from the top station to Samson's peak is nice as lots of platforms to view... More

When headed up, it was just getting cloudy. It was nice that the ticket sales person showed us a view from the top before we bought so we knew what we were looking at. The ride up we amazing as it was still clear enough. Once at the top, we had no view but still saw some mountain goats and... More
