when we arrived on the ice field the weather was just right because as we went out in the snowmobiles it was a snow blizzard

I have enjoyed the drive up the Icefields highway. I drive all or part of it every year, at least once. Today we drove out to see the extent of the "Sleeping Giant," the name of the under control forest fire still smouldering away in the moss of the eastern slopes coniferous forest. I will tour back at various times... More

Fantastic scenery the whole length of the road plus if you keep your eyes open you can see wildlife. We saw a grizzly with 2 cubs and a heard of 6 elk on our trip plus various birds and ground squirrels. (Tip - if you see cars pulled over, stop. They are looking at something interesting. Lots of glaciers at... More

This time around the views were not crystal clear due to the forest fires and the mosquitos experienced at Peyto Lake were the worst I have ever seen. They even showed up on my photos.

We did the drive with Brewsters from Banff to Jasper. Our brilliant driver, Dustin, said in his opinion it is one of the most amazing journeys in the world. We had a great day and agree with him. There is one stunning view after another and so many incredible sights. We stopped at Lake Louise, Peyto Lake, the Colombia ice... More

Drive up from Lake Louise to Jasper and back in one day. It is by far the best thing we did for the five days spent in Banff National Park. It for sure the most amazing route.

It is absolutely beautiful, definitely worth the drive! Make sure to have enough gas though as there are very little gas stations on your way through. If you have the time I recommend stopping at Columbia Icefields for the tours, very interesting!!

We are just back from Banff, Lake Louise and the Icefields Parkway. Amazing, mind-blowing mountains and glacial lakes. Go slow and stop at all the turn-outs. You won't be disappointed! There are no gas stations except at the mid-point, so make sure you fill up the car before you start. Also, there is a forest fire burning just south of... More

Sheep. Glaciers. Mountains. You gotta do it! I would compare it to a similar drive I did between the Yukon and Alaska. Breathtaking. Don't be the driver so you can look around more.

We did this as a 4 day bike ride with Mountain Madness Tours which was definitely the way to go if you have the time and (moderate) fitness. Traffic is heavy in places. Scenery is spectacular and in your face.
