It is absolutely beautiful, definitely worth the drive! Make sure to have enough gas though as there are very little gas stations on your way through. If you have the time I recommend stopping at Columbia Icefields for the tours, very interesting!!

We are just back from Banff, Lake Louise and the Icefields Parkway. Amazing, mind-blowing mountains and glacial lakes. Go slow and stop at all the turn-outs. You won't be disappointed! There are no gas stations except at the mid-point, so make sure you fill up the car before you start. Also, there is a forest fire burning just south of... More

Sheep. Glaciers. Mountains. You gotta do it! I would compare it to a similar drive I did between the Yukon and Alaska. Breathtaking. Don't be the driver so you can look around more.

We did this as a 4 day bike ride with Mountain Madness Tours which was definitely the way to go if you have the time and (moderate) fitness. Traffic is heavy in places. Scenery is spectacular and in your face.

My husband and I didn't take the tour to the glacier as we were also doing the skywalk. If you want you can hike up to the glacier. It is quite the journey and got quite chilly the farther up we got. My husband loves geology so this was right up his alley.

We drove from the beginning of Icefields Parkway to the Columbia Icefield & back. The drive itself was beautiful from beginning to end with amazing mountain views and great stops along the way. I definitely recommend these stops: crowfoot glacier (viewable from road), Peyto lake (only a short walk from parking lot), Mistaya Canyon (another short walk from parking area),... More

Did the tour organised by Brewster. It was wort every penny! It far outweighed our trip on the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Jasper (red leaf service). We had lots of photo opportunities and lots of stops. An interesting and informative commentary and MANY highlights. Included stops at the Athabasca falls, Peyto Lake, the newly opened glacier skywalk and the... More

I drove up and down the parkway three times. It's exhilarating. The first time I drove on it, I was trying to get to my hotel in Jasper, and it was getting late. Luckily, summer nights are pretty long at this latitude, but around 10:30 pm it was getting darker, there was practically nobody on the road aside from perhaps... More
