This will be the highlight of most people's trips through the area. Make sure you allot a whole day to allow yourself ample time for stopping off at viewpoints, pulling over to see wildlife etc. The views of the mountains are spectacular and never ending. Reminds you that we Canadian are blessed to live in such an awesome country. And... More

We took this as a coach trip part of our Canadianaffair holiday, about 8 hours with lunch, fabulous views, excellent guides, topped off with a drive across the glacier in an enormous vehicle with the opportunity to walk on the glacier.

We drove the road from Banff to Tangle Falls and then had to turn around because of time constraints. It really is a full day trip to get all the way to the end and back, if you stop at the overlooks and do some of the shorter hikes. We got gas in Lake Louise; otherwise, you are stuck with... More

Love the slower paced drive and awesome scenery. There is such a varience in rock fomations and waterfalls along the route.

Even though the glaciers were receding, it was still a beautiful sight to behold. The icefields were an excellent reminder of what we have currently, and what the future generations might not.

This route is really worth a visit. The highlight is the Athabasca Glacier which you can actually walk on. If you are based in Banff it is a 400km round trip so it will take you most of the day. The are many spots on the way to stop at and take photos. It would be a real shame if... More

We only made it as far as the Athabasca glacier center, but what an experience. More things to see than we had time for. If I did this trip again, would book one night in Jasper so we could do the entire ride. I highly recommend the GyPSy app (or one of the similar GPS guide apps) to help you... More

Consistently spectacular views-- if you can squeeze this into your itinerary do it. As the name of the book says "Don't Waste Your Time in the Rockies"!. This is a must do. Simple.

Beautiful drive! We parked at the "toe" of the Athabaskan glacier and walked up. Windy and cold, even in July. It's worth it though to see the power of the glacier.
