This has to be one of the most scenic drives in the World. We were lucky to have a sunny day, and finished with total sensory overload. Lakes, waterfalls, mountains, glaciers, (and even bear & elk), my camera worked serious overtime. All I can recommend is do it & be prepared to stop regularly, walk a little, and see what... More

Not even the best photographer or videographer can capture the overwhelming scale of these mountains, valleys, and glaciers. It simply must be seen to fully appreciate the immense scale and geologic forces that were at work creating awe inspiring visions at at every turn. Look for the distinctive rounded bowl shape of the valley you are driving through and then... More

They say the Icefields Parkway is one of the most scenic drives in the world, and I can see why. It's mile after mile of sweeping panoramic views of the Canadian Rockies, canyons, lakes, glaciers, wildlife, and everything nature has to offer. You cannot rush this drive! Stop at every overlook. Hike to Peyto Lake. Check out all the waterfalls.... More

This was stunning - very exciting although we were in quite a bit group of tourists. It was quite surreal standing on a glacier the depth of the height of the Eiffel Tower. Go in the near future as it is melting at quite an alarming rate!

This is seriously a must do if you are driving towards Jasper. The road is well paved and winds through some of the most scenic areas of Alberta with mountains, rivers and glacial lakes easily spotted from the car. It's also the way to the Columbia Ice-fields which are located on route and worth visiting. It is worth stopping off at... More

Make sure you drive this highway and make sure you get out of your car as often as the roadside turnouts and attractions allow.

Such an amazing tour. If you are planning on driving anywhere near the icefields Do it! Don't forget to fill up first, and grab some food/drinks as there really isn't a lot of places to grab anything. Stop and take pictures and do some of the hikes. It is totally worth it.

The Parkway is an absolutely lovely drive--good road and so very scenic! Best of all, however, was our stop at the Columbia Icefield Centre. When we saw the lines, we all thought this is a tourist trap and were we ever wrong! We bought tickets, stood in the line for just a few minutes (they handle large crowds very well... More

We drove from Lake Louise to Jasper and back (several days later) along the Columbia Icefields Highway in mid-June. What an amazing experience amid jaw-dropping scenery! Both days were cloudy with a bit of rain, and even 10 seconds of sleet on the way back, but we were prepared for unpredictable mountain weather in June. We found this website helpful... More
