What a fantastic road to travel from Jasper to Banff, the magnificent scenery unfolds and changes around each ben. From Pine forests and Moose meadows to soaring mountains A stop off at the Athabasca falls is worth the time, then the scenery turning Tundra-ish and bleak with the glacier views off to the right. Dropping down into a barren, rocky,... More

Simply put, one of the best rides in North America. I’ve driven the Seward Highway in Alaska and the PCH near Big Sur in California, and the Icefields Parkway might top them both. Jagged peaks, glaciers, lakes, rivers, valleys, it has it all. And if you time it right—early in the morning or just as the sun’s dropping behind the... More

This has to be one of the most scenic drives in North America. The beauty of the drive is almost indescribable. Around every corner is a Mountain or glacier or lake that just will take your breath away We drove from Banff to the icefields and then to Jasper. We must have stopped every few miles to take pictures. Do... More

If you drive the Icefields Parkway, allow yourself plenty of time for there is no shortage of beautiful turn off points. Right along the Parkway, you will have full view of glaciers, mountains, wildlife, turquoise lakes, evergreens and aspens. If you have the physical capability of doing a bit of hiking, you won't be disappointed; the views are even more... More

We enjoyed our drive along the Icefields Parkway. We called at the Columbia Icefields, and then planned to drive on towards Jasper but we wound up stuck in traffic for about one hour. The road was closed both ways due to a rock slide on the mountain. Workmen were attending to it, but we decided not to wait any longer,... More

You come around a turn in the highway and the immensity of the ice hits you. It is huge. Everywhere you look. The buses and cars are dwarfed by the ice. Great place to realize how insignificant humans are in comparison to the majesty of nature.

We drove on the ice fields parkway on September 15. I do not have any words to describe except to quote National geography which calls it as one of the most scenic drives in the world. As you drive the scenery is so wonderful. We stopped at many places. Halt wherever it is possible and enjoy the beautiful lakes and... More

This is probably the most scenic area I have ever been to! The only thing I can compare it to is the Swiss Alps. Please take your time and look around while traveling on the parkway. We leisurely drove north and stopped for mountains, glaciers and lakes views. On the way south we stopped at falls and roadside attractions.
