I was shocked to see a Neo-Gothic church like this in Mexico, but I shouldn't have been once I realized its nowhere near as old as the Neo-Classical and Baroque churches that dominate the country. I was in awe of the accuracy of the vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, rosettes, spires, and even the flying buttresses - but the real... More

Stunning, peaceful, magic. The catacombs are something unique! There's a beautiful light and sound show every evening with different themes. It's a nice place to visit.

You must go underneath the temple, there are the catacombs and it is nice to see how well designed they are.

This is one of the most beautiful structures I have ever seen. The stained glass is exceptional along with all of the interior. The front bronze doors are a work of art by themselves. Make sure you go around to the back and can tour the cripts for a small fee. It is amazing to think that there are so... More

In the night is a lightshow in a side of the temple, is amusing, the temple is nice and clean. The inside is amazing and the outside is a must to see in Leon. You can see all the show (5 min tops) from the cafe-restaurant.

Was there last September and was fortunate to see an amazing show with lights on the side of the church, themed with the Mexican independance bicentenary. Considering it was done on a church it was an amazingly open affair, showing the violence and controversies of Mexico's past. Apparently lightshows might still take place, so enquire.

It's pretty darned spectacular in it's Gothic kind of way. The stained glass windows are not the most interesting around, but if one is walking by anyway, I would say not to fail to stop in for a look. As others have mentioned, the criptas are a must. Around back, behind the church is the door. I wouldn't have even... More
