We have visited Cholla Bay while RV camping at the Reef. Great little community with a few restaurants that are reasonably priced for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as drinks. Great views and if you like to clam this is the place to go during low tide on the mud flats. Great medium sized clams for the taking. Worth... More

Nice, peaceful back-water beach where at low tide you can go collect clams. The site is pretty awesome at low tide as it goes out for a mile or more. And there's a nice little bar in town, too. Fun afternoon.

If I moved to Puerto Penasco, this is where I would choose to love. Long sandy beaches, terrific ocean views and still close to town. Just wish the road was paved, good thing it seldom rains in Rocky Point!

I have been coming down here for 24 years and hope to come for at least the next 24. My first visit was to Cholla Bay so I am a bit biased. The area has developed and has way too many gringos for my taste but you can get away from them when you go a bit up or down... More

find JJ's place.. right on the beach.. food and drink available. Not a big selection but I have only been there during the day. Behind JJ's at low tide you can walk out about 1/2 mile and search for Sand Dollars. Large conch type shells too, most broken but fun to find.. Bring a bucket for your treasures..

Cholla Bay is hands down, my favorite place to soak up the sun in Mexico. The bay is lovely, no huge waves, no sand in your bathing suit, not too many tourists. It is a great little town, perfect for a relaxing get away. While you are there go visit JJ's Cantina and get some cheap-good quality food, and cheap... More

Cholla Bay is a great friendly community. The perfect beach town. Chunga's and Xochi's are great places to eat. JJ's is a great place to get together with friends and enjoy the bay.

This place has a long drive. Dirt roads no pavement, we couldn't find access to the beach, we were planning to relax, play and to try to find some sand dollars, no luck. The only good thing was the welcome sign with the seahorse. This place is perfect for people that want to stay far away from civilization.

If you like beachcombing, go to Cholla Bay at low tide. Lots of clams and octopus to be had by the eager and/or skilled digger/fisher. Found many sand dollars, sea stars, conch shells, etc. Swimming is also great, since the water is incredibly calm and shallow for a long way out. Warm water just like all of Puerto Penasco, maybe...
