Cholla Bay (the residential area of Rocky Point) is so unique. It doesn't have all the glitz and lights and activity of Rocky Point which is a welcomed retreat at the end of the day. Offering the 2nd largest Estuary in the world, it is so fun to see the water as it ebbs and flows throughout the day. Exploring... More

Beautiful and charming little place. Had cute little bed and breakfast places. Small little stores and a nice mix of local and seasonal type homes. Wonderful small little beach area that was much more local and not so tourist. Beautiful homes that will have you planning your retirement home plans :)

Cholla Bay has lost any appeal from the glory days, in this traveler's opinion. very dirty even by area standards.

La Cholla Bay is a beautiful small town with great beach. Right next to JJ's cantina is a small beach area where the waves are super calm and the ocean is great. Awesome you have to go there is you to to Rocky Point

I love Rocky Point. We come out here often for concerts, mainly Roger Clyne and the Peace Makers, which always includes at least one trip out to Cholla Bay and JJ's Cantina. In June of 2015 I finally got to float around in Cholla Bay and listen to the bands play at JJ's. Keep in mind that Rocky Point is... More

Oh I just love Puerto Penasco ( Rocky Point) Mexico. We've gone on several trips here as 'girls' trips and just loved it each time. Renting a waterfront condo , stop by the local super market and load up on food and drink. then just kick back and relax. We love the wide tidal swings and beach walking. Warm waters... More

Cholla Bay "village" is at the end of the Sandy Beach Peninsula. It is a long drive on a dirt road to get to the village. Once there, you see alot of run down and abandoned bldgs with junk in the yards. Except for a few nice homes on the water, all the rest is very disappointing. The real estate... More

The place is all beach houses that are only occupied by about 3 months out of the year. There are TONS of rentals here. The streets are dirt, but things like ATV, or Buggy or water sports are basically ALL expected here. There are few rules and you can do pretty much what you want with few rules. Enjoy the... More
