Very nice cathedral. Must see but a little worn looking inside. Not well kept for a great structure. Poorly maintained.

Quite a church...over 350 years of construction....it was next to our hotel Posada San Augustin so was an easy short tour. Most of the colonial cities, in Mexico, have the Church with Concha (park) configuration. Take a few minutes and check out these historical sites.

The Cathedral in Durango is a Basilica - it is huge! Be sure to look at the choir stall in back of the main altar. There are 33 wooden chairs carved between 1730-1740 with likenesses of apostles, church founders, angels. They are quite spectacular. You are not allowed into that area, however you will be able to photograph some of... More

I was very pleased with our choice of choosing Mazatlan Van Tours for our trip to Durango. -When I found the web-page, I had some detailed questions, so I contacted Jay Anderson via e-mail and he answered all of them. The arrangements were then made easily. We chose the 2-day overnight tour because we wanted to allow enough time to... More

The building is lovely. The 'cantera' stone it is made of give it such a character. The 'plaza' just in front of it filled with locals is quite enjoyable.

It is amazing and unique. I love the palm trees around it. I was not able to go inside but the outside is worth seeing and is a great city landmark.

Sadly this cathedral was not open, so we did not get to see the inside. However the outside is very interesting and unique. The bell towers are amazing. There is a bell in each opening of each bell tower. I would really enjoy going back when the church is open so that I could take a peak inside. Be sure... More
