We visited Colne valley for a Peppa Pig Needless to say it was mainly for our granddaughter. Car parking was very easy and we headed into the station. There were a lot of people already lining up to see the lovely Peppa. I have qwto say the Peppa Pig although very friendly was of the giant stature variety and did... More

There is something unsatisfying about railways that don't actually go anywhere, and this is the biggest drawback to a visit here. There is a mile or so of track with a station in the middle, so the full round trip - out to one end, run round, right the way through to the other end, run round, back to the... More

Amazing day. Just me and the wife taking a step back in time. Remembering all the great things about the old Trains and stations. Great memories. Eating in the buffet car was also lovely. All the staff at Colne Valley were helpful and dedicated. Thanks for a lovely day out.

I went to the CVR for a steam locomotive driving experience, in September 2012, the whole experience was really educational and thoroughly enjoyable, starting with the safety advice course, signalling and lastly with the engine driving, all the staff were very good, and really knowledgeable, I would thoroughly recommend the CVR, although it is a little way out, but it... I have been to the Colne Valley Railway several times, & whilst I can understand why some people complained a fair bit here & there, I liked the place. This is a smaller attraction than the East Anglian Railway Museum which I visit more regularly, but even though the CVR has a very short length of track, it does operate... More

Many thanks for your kind review. The Colne Valley Railway is entirely staff by volunteers and is a registered charity. We all work very hard to improve the site and the facilities within the constraints we have and attempt to portray the scene of a 1950s country railway station as accurately as we can. More

The Colne Valley Railway is the only Heritage Railway where you can ride in an authentic Pullman carriage during a Santa Special visit and yes there is a small premium attached over our normal admission prices. Our length of line and facilities provided (over and above the train ride) are fully documented on our website and issued by site map... More

We went on the Santa steam train yesterday and it was so incredibly bad. I totally agree with previous posts that have described it as a 'graveyard' and a 'twilight zone' as it is actually really quite spooky with the old carriages and plastic dummies dotted around. The whole thing is in urgent need of a overhaul or just to... More

I went here today with my husband, children aged 4 and 2 and my inlaws. When driving in there it looked a bit shabby, almost like where trains had gone to die and nothing going on at all. Once parked and inside (though you have to go through the shop on entrance, something which drives me mad with these places.)... More

Many thanks for your review. Our approach road does indeed pass our workshops which we are trying to screen with trees / hedgerows but of course this time of year there are no leaves on the trees. The Colne Valley Railway is entirely volunteer operated and managed but we are limited in changes we can make at the present time... More

Most enjoyable day out with the grandchildren. Plenty to see and do , lots of train rides , museum , huge model rail layout with buttons to press. A quiz and a treasure hunt kept the kids on the lookout all day . And a nice snack in the buffet car . Great

Very weird - seemed more like a tour of a train grave yard. Santa's outfit looked like it had been worn for a night out. The elves were just two girls dressed in civies. Totally confusing.
