Before you go, plan way ahead by ordering from your city library a book out-of-print: Judith Bruns' HIDDEN BEACHES OF MEXICO [Univ. of Cal-Berkley Press- 1070s]. This is one of her hallmark beaches [God bless her now departed soul].

Had it all to ourselves. Mid week, off season, good food and beer. The beach is long, beautiful and free of hordes of tourists.

We only discovered this beach on our second last day in Ixtapa sadly, it was amazing! It is a public beach so it is fairly busy but it is very beautiful and perfect for people staying at the Azul Ixtapa and Grande that does not have a beach. Lots of palm trees, the water is very clean and beautiful.

This beach located in front of Club Med or between Azul Grand and Club Med. There is public access to the beach behind Azul Grand. We visited when the waves were high, not very common apparently, and still enjoyed our visit. The sand is great to play with if you have kids. There are occasional rocks in the water on... More

Next door to Azul Ixtapa Grand which doesn't have much of a beach so we were pleased to be able to spend time there. Beach was lovely, nice sand and warm waves. Great.

This gold sand beach is right next door to Azul Ixtapa Grand, where we stayed. It's in front of Club Med, but not too busy. Lots of waves, and a bit of undertow. Check for the green flag before going in the water. White flag is debatable.

Decent sand, massages, palm trees to lie under and not s super wide beach so walking for a great distance to get to the water was not an issue!

Playa Quieta is just that the quiet beach, it has public access at the far end but is mostly monopolized by the Club Med and you can guess why they plunked their resort there!!!! Great place to stop for lunch and a swim on the return bike trip to Playa Linda.
