It's nice but really far off the beaten path. If you have a couple days to spend out there it would be worth going. Beautiful beach and hardly any tourists around. Be careful. Check out the crocodile zoo...free but give a generous tip!

We went there and the combination of the lagune, the river and the sea is amazing. you can really chill there and there wont be many people. the trip to go there is already amazing. we stayed the first nights in the "center" and once during the day we walked along the beach like 2 hours (slowly) till we came... It's my paradise spot near Puerto. I return every time to "escape": for a few days...accomodation very cheap, food very delicious, place very magical!

To far, surf is not extraordinary, only dirty accomdations, too many moskitos (denguee problems), unsafe. I would not recomend it.

You have to camp next to the beach, Facilities and ambiance is really rustic if you do not have trouble with that you[ll be fine. People is honest, kind and compromised with your stay. Tichinda tamales are the best (river clamshell) only 5 pesos, unbelievable. Lot of youth. Probably we were the oldest. Night is for young people, but during... More

Myself and a few guys from P.E. went for a day and nite there to see something different and we have heard about the beauty of the area. If your leaving for the day leave early because it takes a couple of different steps to get there if your going by public transportation and not driving on your own. Had... More

My husband and another 2 couples spent a wonderful week-end in Chacahua at the end of May 2010. To get there we hired a van from the airport ($600 pesos) to Zapotalito and got a private boat ($600 pesos) to Chacahua from there. The boat tour took approximately 1h through beautiful sites of mangroves and birds and our guide told... More

beautiful tiny place with few inhabitants... surf was not great in December, but a great place to get away from EVERYTHING Leave yourself plenty of time to get there, don't drive the backroads - military hang out on the (very) bumpy dirt samblance of a road. Take the boat in if you can help it, its cheap, safer and an... More
