Its a bit away from everything else, but worth it if you want to get away from the beach for a half day. The comedores in the market will give a nice local tasty lunch for a great price, and you can stroll around the market for a while after to pick up some souvenirs, t-shirts, etc.

We visited El Mercado on a busy Saturday morning, shopping for fresh fruits and vegetables for our ten-day stay. We bought lots of great food, including a large fillet of mahi mahi (enough for two delicious meals). We also bought a few other things, but all in all what a great experience!

This is what you want to experience real culture! It is an amazing place to see artisans, food, produce, clothing, jewelry and more. We loved walking around and just seeing all the different things. We also bought our produce there because it looked much better than the local supermarket. We bought hand made tortillas here as we'll and they were... More

Goto shop or go to look. So much variety offered by vendors. It's koto haggle here. Magnificent oaxaca ( string) cheese is the freshest In puerto - when you ask! Flowers are their best on Saturday and beautiful everyday. Go early morning or the heat will overwhelm you.
