Go with Mike Malone for this tour. His company name is Hidden Voyages Ecotours and you can read about his background under the "Your Guides section". He is from Canada and has been coming to Puerto Escondido each winter for 32 years. On the day of our tour, he picked us up at our B and B, arranged for our... More

This was a great half day of kayaking with a very knowledge local guide. We had a lovely lunch after the kayaking at the kayak rental site. A most enjoyable morning. Cannot wait to do this again.

Evy our guide took us on the most amazing morning of bird watching we have ever experienced! We are quite well traveled and had the opportunity to see birds and wildlife we have never seen in any other country He was so knowlegable and knew every nook and cranny where the birds were nesting or liked to hang about. It... More

An easy 20 trip on a collectivo bus from Peurto Escondido. We reserved the kayaks ahead and did a self-guided tour of the Laguna. The laguna was very calm, and the birds were very active. We went very early in the morning to avoid the heat, and we had breakfast at the little cafe. Yummy huevos ranchers made by an... More

After 4 years of coming to Puerto Escondido, we finally decided to do the Maialtepec tour and did it with Eve Escamilla of Lalo Ecotours. Don't miss this trip! We spent about 3 hours on the lagoon learning and seeing so much, its difficult to recall it all if it weren't for the photos. Eve (pronounced Evvy) was our guide,... More

The lagoon is small enough to be visited by boat or kayak. We took the motor boat tour from Puesta del Sol. Saw many birds, explored some noarrow canals, and enjoyed a cold coconut on the ocean shore.

We booked our tour with Hidden Voyages EcoTours. The guide a canadian who winters in Puerto for the last 30 years is a biologist that really knows his stuff. It appeared as though he actually hired the boat to run the tour from his competition. My wife took a tour previously with another operator and said that this tour was... More

A must do in Pto. Escondido. They pick you up at 4:30pm and drop you back off just in time for dinner. It is only about 20 minutes out of town on a 30 mile long deserted beach. When you arrive, you get acquainted with the 1 day-old sea turtles you will be releasing at sunset. The guide, Ebbe in... More

We had an amazing kayak tour of the Manialtepec Laguna with Michael Malone, a Canadian naturalist / birder who has been in the area for 30 years. What an amazing day in his company at this beautiful Lagoon. As eager bird watchers we expected a lot from our visit and we were not disappointed. His knowledge, communication and enthusiasm made... We used Lalo ecotours. Mexican guide with excellent English took us out in a small power boat, early enough to see gorgeous sunrise. We saw 70 species of birds, had a delightful trip thru narrow channels thru the mangroves, and had a good lunch at Juanita's, a very rustic but charming spot on the beach overlooking the pacific.
