Eve from Lalo Ecotours took us on several tours in the Puerto Escondido area--turtle watching, birdwatching, and swimming in the phosphorescent waters of Laguna de Manialtepec. The birdwatching early in the morning was great, and Eve is extremely knowledgeable about the local birds. Swimming at night in the warm water of the lagoon was a bit spooky, but it was... More

We went to la laguna de Manialtepec on the night tour. It lasts from 8 o'clock to about 10:30. It's about a 20 minute drive from playa Zicatela and it is soooooo worth it. They take out to a dark section of the lagoon by boat and you get to swim and the plankton light up with the movement of... More

We went with LALO Eco tours who picked us up from our accommodation in Playa Carrizalillo and took us to Manialtepec Lagoon to see the incredible Phosphorescence, the half plant half animal plankton shows up when it is completely dark so it was about 9:30pm when we came across it. We jumped into the pitch black water and we were... More

It was an amazing experience, swimming in the dark night in the highly lighted water in the lagoon Manialtepec. Our guide Eve was highly strive to explain everything very well and had a great knowledge of the nature in the... More

We did the full trip down the lagoon so the river mouth at sunset and back to see phosphorescence. The phosphorescence was absolutely amazing and the lagoon was beautiful, but it is not as great as what people state on here. Note: I am not a bird watcher, the bird life is amazing here and if that is what you... More

We joined Eve from LALO Ecotours for an early morning Bird Viewing at Manieltepec Lagoon. The lagoon is "ginormous" and as you travel through it, you really feel transported to a different world! Eve (Ev-vy) was an entertaining and knowledgeable wildlife guide. He provided us with binoculars and directed us in viewing a bevy of birds! He explained the natural... More

This was a great half day of kayaking with a very knowledge local guide. We had a lovely lunch after the kayaking at the kayak rental site. A most enjoyable morning. Cannot wait to do this again.

An easy 20 trip on a collectivo bus from Peurto Escondido. We reserved the kayaks ahead and did a self-guided tour of the Laguna. The laguna was very calm, and the birds were very active. We went very early in the morning to avoid the heat, and we had breakfast at the little cafe. Yummy huevos ranchers made by an... More
