We ordered a trip from our amazing hotel Swiss Oasis. The ride there was about 30 minutes from Puerto Escondido. We got our own boat in the lagoon, guided by the native man Pepe. His english was not so good, but he was very kind and charming. We got binoculars and we got to see tons of beautiful species of... More

So many birds I have never seen before. We took the guided canoe tour and the guide was excellent at pointing out birds and other wildlife. The brown bag lunch wasn't bad either. The night phosphors were incredable. Must do tour when in Puerto.

think this is where we got phosphor swim at night, by day, it's eco center, lots of birds, easy to get there with a group bus and then there's a guide to either take you in boat or kayak

I found the whole trip amazing. You take a 20 min boote ride in ther dark. Than you jump into the water which is ice and warm. Your bodywill be surroundend by biofluorescenting planctons. Around your hand and your whole body you will see a glowing halo.

Take the tour with friendly guides on their boats to enjoy calm unspoiled scenery and tons of birds. Really worth the approx USD 40

If you like being out in a boat, bird watching and seeing the richness of mangroves, this is the place to go from Puerto. You could take a tour from Puerto, or, take public transport (get a van from 3a Poniente and Calle 2a norte- 15 minutes, cost 15-20P) and get off at one of the 'resorts' like Puesta del... More

this a place not to miss morning or eveining, very peacfull and lots of wildlife, but it is best to pick up a recommended guide, although I have never been disappointed with any of the guides round the lagoon, there is a great guide in Puerto Escondido by the name of mike Malone of eco tours who is the best.

I went there with all the people from my hostel and it was just amazing! We went at night because when you enter the water glows and is just a unique experience, it can be a bit scary cuz' is completly dark but totally worth it!

This is one of the best places to just go and chill for a day on the lagoon and by the see. No huge groups of tourists, complete nature and reality, and great food. Pick up a fresh bag of coconut with chilli sauce in the village - Yum ! Visited many times over many years and never been disappointed.... More
